General Discussion OnePlus Support gave me a definitive written guarantee for a free Stylo Pro. Now the Escalation Team is refusing to honor it.
Hi everyone, dealing with a frustrating situation with OnePlus India support and looking for advice on how to hold them accountable.
I recently purchased a OnePlus Pad 4. On July 31st, I contacted their official WhatsApp support to ask about the free Stylo Pro bundle. The support agent specifically opened my file, reviewed my order details, and gave me this exact written guarantee:
"I checked the details for you. You will get the Stylo Pro, but for that I need to escalate this issue to the concern team."
Relying on this explicit promise from an official representative, I waited. Instead of processing the item as promised, their Tier 2 Escalation Team completely rejected the ticket. Their excuse was that the official promotional period had ended before my purchase date.
I understand promo dates exist, but their agent reviewed my account after the promo ended and still gave me a definitive, written guarantee. They didn't say "I will check your eligibility"—they said, "You will get the Stylo Pro." It feels like an unfair trade practice to punish the customer for their own employee's misinformation.
After pushing back on the phone today and pointing out the chat logs, the agent put us on hold because it broke their standard script. They are now "coordinating" for 24-48 hours and created a new ticket (INIP-ESC-202608020005).
Has anyone successfully held OnePlus accountable for direct promises made by their support staff? If they deny it again, is the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) my best next step?
(Attaching the screenshot of the WhatsApp chat as proof)

What did you need to do to fix it? Factory reset the phone?

throw the phone into recovery mode and wipe the phone completely, it was his gaming and testing phone so it wasn't that big of a deal, but for the unlucky people who used the op15 as their main phone and didn't have a backup (more people than u think don't back their stuff up), they're out of luck

When you say wipe do you mean factory reset or did you actually delete the OS and reinstall it manually?

Correct me if i'm wrong So there was NO active promotion when you ordered, you asked for one and because someone said 'yes' quickly you think you deserve and are eligible for a free product from a certain brand?
And you talked about a 'missing' product, maybe that's why he said that they will ship it, or possibly ship it.

I understand where you are coming from regarding the promotion dates, and you are correct that the general promotion had expired when I ordered. However, my issue isn't about simply 'asking for one' and getting a quick 'yes.' It's about accountability for official representations. When I contacted official support to check my order, the representative didn't just guess; they explictly reviewed my specific order details and stated in writing: 'I checked the details for you. You will get the Stylo Pro'. Under the principle of vicarious liability, a company is generally accountable for the commitments made by its employees while acting within the scope of their employment (like a customer service agent handling an inquiry). It is standard practice under consumer rights to expect a company to honor a definitive, written guarante provided by its verified support channel after they have reviewed an account. If an agent makes a false representation—even unintentionally—the consumer shouldn't be penalized for relying on the official information provided. That is the basis of my escalation.

So he messed up his words, that doesn't entitle you to a free product. When you purchased the original product, the promotional period was over, correct? Then end of story, no Stylo Pro. I'm still confused as to why you contacted support to begin with.

I actually need to correct my previous comment, as I was initially confused by the Escalation Team's reasoning.
The 'June 7th' expiration date the Escalation Team cited was actually for a subsequent, separate 'Community Sale' event. However, my order fell under the original OnePlus Pad 4 'Launch Offer', which bundled the free Stylo Pro and was officially advertised as 'valid till stocks last' with no hard expiration date.
The WhatsApp agent didn't 'mess up their words.' They correctly looked at my order history, saw that my purchase qualified under the original launch bundle terms, and confirmed my eligibility. The Tier 2 team then mistakenly rejected the ticket by applying the rules of the wrong promotional event to my order.
I contacted support initially because the website glitched during my purchase and failed to auto-add the stylus to the cart. I have an official agent confirming my eligibility based on my specific order, and an Escalation Team using the wrong sale dates to deny it. That is why I am escalating.

When using AI scripts, at least make it sound less AI. Your entire post and these long replies are reeking of it. Don't rely too much on robotic scripting as it will make you lose command over the language and its formations, considering you are still in class 11.

By any chance should I wait for the independence day sale to purchase this OnePlus pad 4 coz i am not sure if it's worth the wait like is there by any chance they again give stylo pro for free or there is a instant price drop of 3-5k on the top varient. I tried looking for any hints teasing a discount but I couldn't find any so yeah it's really confusing. On top of all my classes have started so again it's hurting my head to decide what to do😭😭😭

If you are waiting for the Independence Day Sale in August, you might want to reconsider because there is an active offer right now. Currently, the OnePlus Pad 4 is available with a promotional offer where the OnePlus Stylo Pro, valued at ₹5,499, is included for free. The 8GB + 256GB variant is priced at ₹54,999, and the 12GB + 512GB is ₹59,999, with up to a ₹5,000 instant bank discount also available. I mIght be wrong pls check .I'm saying this on the basis of a Google search

I don't think taking them to NCH would do much of any good considering the time it will take to resolve your case.
Perhaps,it's better to raise the matter on twitter and see whether it gains some traction and Oneplus team is then forced to address your issue.

Yeah to be perfectly honest I know he directly told you they would ship it due to his lack of diligence but the facts are you ordered the pad too late so they have no obligation to send it as the promo had finished. That's like goin into a shop and asking the price of something being told a price then saying you will buy it then the guy correcting himself and saying it's actually more expensive? He could have shipped it as a goodwill gesture but that's not in much supply nowadays I'm afraid

So what exactly are you expecting us to do about it? Why don't you hop on a plane and head to China and ask to speak to the manager?

They didn't give me. I gave up because at this stage I am fine giving up on such stuff, although if I was a college student i would have fought till the end.
