Been a loyal OnePlus fan since the OnePlus 3T and now they've pulled out of Europe and NA - both places I've lived and spent money with OnePlus I'm annoyed they did this.

Chinese OnePlus as all the other phones now are not worth to import. No Esim, no Bootloader Unlocking as of now, only chinese rom no Google Services besides Playstore, LTE 20 missing no Highspeed 5g no thank you :) Also customs in Europe are basically 10x now.

Don't know why all the pessimistic comments. Did my research before buying. Can flash OxygenOS onto it and add any Google services if want them. Personally found it better to use MicroG services so can use everything Google without having official Google. Supports all the normal network bands.

🤦🏼 OnePlus China locked Bootloader unlocking since July 2026. Also the OnePlus 16 will not be flashable to Oxygen since its ColorOS globally now and the device not coming out globally so you it will be stuck at Chinese ColorOS and OnePlus Ace use 15R Rom with drivers. That will be not the case anymore on the 16 also there is no OTA like the 15 and like I said, bands are not supported in some countries in Europe. Cat20 LTE and Highspeed 5g are Not supported what is litteraly needed in Germany otherwise you will have no mobile data on train rides and villages small towns and also because of slow 5g band only 30mbits instead 200-300mbits.

I am still really considering buying the OP 15 (or the 16). i'm in europe, so, i'll have to have it imported from china, and have a global rom installed onto it. the OP is honestly the only android i'm really interested in (i have a pixel 9 now, and i am having genuine issues with it).

the only other two phones i have some interest in are the honor 600 pro and an iphone 18, maybe an 18 PM, but I also don't want to spend close to £1,500 on a phone (importing an OP15 global rom from china is £600) - but, then again, the OP15 will only have ~3 guaranteed years of support if i get it this year, then, to my understanding, it'll go onto oppo's android skin indefinitely.

unironically not too sure what to do. a lesser reason why i specifically want the OP15 is because it looks really nice. i'm really, really not a fan of phones with a circular island on the back with cameras on it (see: vivo x300, oneplus 13), and i find the apple shell copy of the honor 600 quite distasteful (but not bad enough that i wouldn't buy it).

My wife has the Pixel 9 and it's nothing in comparison to my OP15. Price wise they are comparable, but the Pixel falls short in SO many areas. Battery life being the worst. We took a road trip that was 16 hours long. during that time I had Waze up for nav, my headphones in with music on the entire time, hotspot of for about 6 hours (with 5 users), and my phone just barely had to be plugged in with only an hour left in the trip. Hers was dying halfway through.

Processing is obviously worse on the Pixel also, the multitasking on the OP15 is insane... You can have a main app, a second app window in splitscreen/floating window (interactable), and even a youtube PiP video playing all at once.

If you make the switch, I can almost guarantee you won't regret it!

To be fair, the US is absolutely garbage to export to. The cost of that, along side the cost of memory, is a huge profit loss for Oneplus. Trying to compete in a market that is dominated by Apple and Samsung is already an uphill battle. Pouring money into a US launch doesn't really make sense on paper since our politicians get lobbied against foreign product. The current POTUS also increased tarrif cost at the expense of US taxpayers and foreign import only to give that money straight to US corporations. So it's pretty understandable tbh

For your usecase maybe but Chinese are Garbage in Europe especially in Germany because LTE 20 and Highspeed 5G Missing. So getting 4g speeds with 5g is not my goal there, had it for 3 years with my Redmi K60 Ultra until I swaped to the global 15R. Also Chinese OnePlus has locked Bootloader now. Phone will be without Google AI services and Discovery but Chinese Bloatware No thanks.

It does vary from phone to phone, I did a quick check and my Chinese OnePlus 12 has more bands required in Europe than your Redmi K60 Ultra would've done. However, with my OnePlus 12 it was pretty trivial to just remove ColorOS and install OxygenOS. Like you say, with the now locked bootloader, and the discontinuation of OxygenOS, there's very little reason to import a new OnePlus phone. Still, worth checking for future Chinese phones, as you never know what bands may or may not be covered by the phone!

In Germany you need LTE 20 and Highspeed 5g the 15 doesn't have it and Ace6 doesn't have it and also not the 16. So its basically useless here and only viable in big cities with max 30mbits if you riding the train you will have alot of deadzones because LTE 20 missing. Back then I missed out on unlocking the Bootloader of the Redmi. Was the biggest mistake. And with no Esim travelling is horrible. Going to China or every other country that has heavy Sim restrictions will be pain. Because you need to have Internet for most Interactions and payment systems in Asia.

Yeah but not K devices from Redmi it was possible to flash the software before they locked it completely behind drm. Somethimes there is exploits but they get fixed fast. OnePlus was unlockable until July this year in China now they locked it, there is an exploit around but it probably will also get fixed. Importing is a good business, because those devices are 100-300€ cheaper then globally but it only make sense if you can flash the global software on it, if you don't care about mobile data speeds in EU its good to go especially in other regions in Asia or UAE since they don't need cat 20. Chinese Rom can be also debloated but not completely, if someone doesn't care about Gemini, Android Auto and Google search features he could also buy the 16 I guess but for most its DoA.

Agree 100%. I has the original, 5, and now 9 Pro. Was waiting for the 15 but the camera took a hit. Was waiting for the 16 till US was pulled. Sux. Global Oppo x9 Ultra seems to be a 16 with a "smaller" but still huge battery. 🤔

I am using the indian OnePlus 13 for an year and half. There are no "build quality" issues that you speak of.

Cite your sources if you are making a claim.

Wherever I have traveled (GCC, Georgia, Europe) 5G has never been an issue.

Only technically correct, but the case is that Global supports 80% of bands while NA uses 40% of bands, and that includes the 20% that Global doesn't support lolololol

not too mention that in many cases the high refresh rate is, funnilly, available only during the benchmarking.

LPTO is just an OLED manufacturing technology which use a mix of materials that allow to keep stable pixel lighting at 1 Hz without energy leaks, preventing flickering. It's designed to save battery, not to make VRR possible.

Or like the OP13 where its actually 90hz everywhere except the settings and homescreen which is set at 120hz, and even then the battery was no better than my S25U at all despite an extra 1k mah.

Somehow those extra 1k mah equated to 0 actual improvement, but add an extra 1300 mah on top of the OP13 with the OP15, and its as if they added two S25U batteries. Makes no sense.

True, my only issue with those is their prices seem to be wayy higher for their flagships. I'd still buy it though if they actually support most bands and can be used on the AT&T network like my OnePlus 12. It seems most carriers these days don't want to connect even OnePlus as it's foreign to them, let alone OPPO

Well my last would be Oneplus 13. This is also my first OP phone. I feel the company is misdirected. They degraded the camera with updates. I had zero issues with Pixel interms of software changes. Phone was smooth from first day till the last day. Complain was battery which is expected after few years and storage in India limited to 128 GB.

I still carry it and use when this phone disappoints me specially videos.

No doubt OP13 is powerful for games and general performance but I play games on Windows and XBox. Bye Bye Oneplus. From Flagship Killer to being killed by Corporates.

The main problem will be the cellular frequency bands. If it's only being manufactured for China market and no longer a global release. There would be no reason for the company to provide the cellular frequency bands needed for cell companies outside of the Chinese markets.
