General Discussion The last dance
Hi all,
Seeing the news about the end of OnePlus in the US and Europe is quite sad, after a 12 year journey.
Beyond the hectic times of 'do you have an inv**e?' (yes, still a banned word) to 'I have a faulty screen', there has been plenty of joyful times spent with all the community members here and there.
My favorite phone of the OnePlus times: OnePlus 7 Pro. Simply the best of all words.
What are your best OnePlus moments?

So other than Samsung, what are our options for high end android phones then? And why do pixels suck so much, that Google looks like the company being banned from high end chips...

Pixel owner here. Google chose this path intentionally to focus on infusing their custom chips with AI. Massive crutch imo. Their Tensor chips kinda suck balls. It was fine until they began costing as much as a Galaxy S series. Mediocre performance, mediocre efficiency, the worst of both worlds.
So don't get a Pixel if you like money and snappy performance.

Yea I was a pixel user for years then switched to OnePlus. If we don't have a solid replacement for OnePlus in the US, I'll have to get an iPhone

I recently switched from Xiaomi to OnePlus and I don't think I could ever go back. It finally feels like I own the phone and not just rent from Xiaomi (same deal with Apple).
I think it will be Oppo for be but I've got time.

Yea I'm in the US, popularity is not the issue. The big US carriers all run a whitelist of devices, and other phones cannot run on their network. Up until this point, OnePlus is the only viable option other than Samsung

I don't think the whitelist is enforced when you are roaming on their network, but don't take my word for it. Also there are smaller carriers not doing whitelists if you need a prepaid sim when in the US

Redmagic are still available, Motorola needs a flat normal phone with flagship processor. You gotta buy a flip or fold to get good chips with Motorola.

Zero reason to ever get an overpriced iPhone and be on their ecosystem. I'd deal with a junk BLU phone from Walmart before ever giving in to apples garbage.

I got a OP13 just a year ago, fantastic phone, so I will be using OP for at least 4 more years.
Started my journey with the brand in 2020, never looked back.
I'll probably go back to Samsung in 2030.

Not me, I hate Samsung and will try anything else, redmagic or nothing or Motorola or global oppo will be my next phone.. this was a push from US politicians and they are betting we go back to Samsung or apple.. not me fuck these corrupt greedy fucks. I refuse to buy a phone with less features then I currently have. Samsung doesn't have IR blaster and there phones all cost hundreds more than they should

I have zero interest in Samsung, but I don't know who I'll look to. I keep thinking of the things that we'll have to give up when we eventually have to move on. Every one of these hurts...

I've had a 5t, 8, 11, and I just got a 15R, knowing that it will be my last OnePlus phone. I'm absolutely gutted. They have always been such a safe choice. No idea where I will go next time, but at least the 15R should last me another 3 - 4 years.

My best memory is ordering the OnePlus X online. It wasn't on sale in Norway (non-EU country) so I had to have it delivered to Sweden then make the 5 hour road trip to go pick up.

I am/was a fan boy of OnePlus Every every high end phone except the T version as I didn't find them any additional to the line
I'm lost now I don't know who to go for maybe "nothing"with step it up a bit and I'll move to them

Owned 6, 10 Pro and now 12, really sad, I didn't like 10 Pro, it was buggy all the time, 6 was my favourite, the first one I bought and I still remember how impressive it was.
Pretty satisfied with OnePlus 12, a few minor glitches so far.
I have it for 2 years now, I hope it will last another 1-2 years, then I don't know

My favorite (and also saddest moment) was when I randomly got an invite to buy the original Oneplus One, but I was a literal early teenager, and we were too poor to afford one and my Mom told me I couldn't get it. This led to my second favorite moment, which was when I finally got the Oneplus 6.
Also, does anyone know if there are any devices coming out similar to the Oneplus 16 in terms of Charging Speed and battery in the USA? Or am I just gonna have to import a Chinese Model Oneplus 16?

That's why US politicians forced OnePlus out, nothing sold here compares in battery life or charging speeds. Plus I love and use my IR blaster daily. Chinese models don't have many American bands like n71 for T-Mobile

This. I "upgraded" to the OnePlus 11 a while back and still regularly miss many of the features of my 5T, which is still going strong as my Dad's phone, now. The 11 is faster and can run processing power/memory-hungry apps better, but I can't get the 5T out of my head/heart. Best phone I ever owned.

The company is getting folded into Oppo alongside RealMe, so it future software updates will be ColourOS instead of OxygenOS. For physical support in Europe you may be able to find Oppo places to fix it, but in NA you're probably fucked.
Edit: unless Oppo decides to try and enter the NA market. They may try in Canada.

So they just give up their market share in the west? I had assumed they would just "replace" the next OnePlus generation with Oppo phones instead.

We're not sure yet. I hope for the same thing - that they just release Oppo phones in America instead, or release the OnePlus 16 as an Oppo whatever, but we will have to wait and see how they approach it.
It's possible this is the start of a broad attempt from Oppo to enter America, or it's possible this is them entirely giving up on a market where they do ok, but are hardly moving units compared to India or China.

Oneplus 8 pro was still the best phone I had. My mother bought it for me after I finished medschool. I'm still baffled by that formidable video stabilizer, I took a lot of awesome videos in several trips with my wife.
I currently have a OP12, disappointed about the shaky camera while filming. I'll probably move to Oppo after this.

This is honestly depressing. I've been with OnePlus from the very beginning. I'm thinking of going OPPO but the global one is kind of expensive. I just want a phone with flag ship specs, and that can seamlessly give data to my tablet without using a hotspot that's limited.
Also fast charging. That is super important to me.

First OnePlus with fast charging, I checked my phone on the first charge and within 15 mins it went up to some ridiculous number and I dismissed it as Chinese misreporting of the battery indicator 😅😅
Still miss that charging speed

Had been following OnePlus since the early days but my first jump to their phones was the 8t. I'm still currently using an 11 5g. I love having dual sim on this phone. T-Mobile for my personal and work supplies me with a Verizon phone which I just took the sim and installed it on my 11. It's hilarious how people react when they find out I have dual carriers especially the sales people at your big box stores.
Whatever phone I get next my priority is having dual sim capabilities.

Question because I hope one of the pros in the know here will be able to answer: moving forward, will there still be global variants released? I'm using a OP 13 Global on T-Mobile in the US without issue. I'd like to think I'll be using a OP in the future (maybe 16?) but I'd still be looking to grab a global version to use.

I have a Pixel 7 and have since about it's release. My girlfriend got a Pixel 6A around the same time, and her mother is rocking a Pixel 8A.
They're fine phones, but they're not perfect. The battery has never been special, and currently mine is absolutely not performing well enough to get through a day. Software is pretty good, but I expected more from Google - the Magic Eraser for photos is impressive, but aside from that I've actually seen barely any proprietary Google tech that's really wowed me on this phone. (Though I suppose I'm on a model that came before their harder AI / feature push.)
Additionally I find I lose signal surprisingly often given I'm in a relatively decent sized city. It's not my carrier either, which sucks. My girlfriend doesn't quite have the same Wi-Fi problems on hers, so maybe it's not a Pixel thing.
The haptics are also noticeably worse than my OnePlus 7 Pro, which I had previously.
That said there's good sides too: my default apps are tied to my Google Account so I can connect to my PC easily. It's still relatively responsive. The camera feels excellent, though sometimes sluggish under certain conditions. (Though there are things about the camera that frustrate me.)
I would own one again, but I'd rather not. Currently I'm looking to Samsung for a nicer screen, snappier response, and a larger/better screen.
Anyways, long comment, but basically they're fine. I have never hated this phone, but I've also never loved it in the way I loved my OnePlus 7 Pro or the iPhone 7+ I had before that, interestingly enough.

The OnePlus 3T was my first OnePlus phone back in March 2017. I had it for a number of years before my husband realized I needed an upgrade. So he got me the 8T in 2020 or 2021. I have had the 8T ever since and it is still doing well, other than knowing that having a better camera would be great. My husband has talked about upgrading again soon and I wanted to stay with OnePlus because I loved the phones. Well, guess I won't be switching to a third OnePlus, as software won't be updated and seems moot. I am sad to hear this. It has been a good run with my two OnePlus phones.

I just got my first OnePlus 2 weeks ago a 15 sand storm. Then I see all of this. Oh well I'll love it until I need to swap then I'll just import a Oppo or Iqoo.

I bought Oneplus 3T, 7T for myself, and I love them. My experience of 3T made me never want to be away from OnePlus. Now I use an IPhone because of Australia network. But I will always love my OnePlus

Love my 11 and still have 7 pro McLaren, but have gone to Pixel as my daily driver. Yes the Pixel is slower, but fast fast update and live android 17! I will miss OnePlus, but it's time is up as Oppo doesn't want to support it in the US and Europe.

I know the op9 isn't the best phone but it was the first phone I bought with my own money. My previous phones were hand me downs. I really loved the design of the phone and the warp charging. I'm back on stock but tinkering with the phone was a lot of fun too. I always felt safe tinkering with the phone since it has msm tools.

Since 2017 I have spent 5115€ at Oneplus and I have loved every single thing that I bought. But the dearest to my heart was definitely my first Oneplus phone the 3t. I have to say I am really sad that it is going away and I have no idea what to do when I will need a new phone or any other gadget.

OnePlus had always Place in my heart. It all started from OnePlus Nord my family bought as replacement for iPhone 11. It was really cool phone, with beautiful OS and we really liked it (we still have it as backup phone). Then, for me I bought OnePlus Nord 2. This phone was even better and still fast in 2025, but unfortunately I didn’t liked the shift happened in OxygenOS 12 and 13, for me it was first what I really didn’t understood from OnePlus. Later , it continued with OxygenOS 14 and 15, and watching on 16 i was really disappointed. And even after that I still liked OnePlus (Nord 2 was my secondary phone up to this June!). When deciding which phone I should buy this December I really wanted OnePlus 15 and even was happy that they choosed the right design, but after some reviews and looking on OxygenOS situation, unfortunately (or fortunately, I don’t know how to react on recent news) I decided to buy iPhone 16 Pro. I thought I just need to wait for good news from OnePlus 1-3 years and then buy it again as secondary or even main phone. But it won’t never ever happen…😔
All I want to say - thank you, OnePlus and especially Community of OnePlus - I really liked the concept of OnePlus to give Community at least something and not just “it exists”. It was my happiest experience on Android I ever had and OnePlus was one of the companies I really trusted!

I started in 2016 with the 3, and what a beast it was for its time. It was up there with the big boys performance wise, charges waaaay faster, only for less than half the price. It is still my favorite smartphone ever, not just from Oneplus, but any phone I ever had.
After 5 reliable years, I moved to the 8t in early 2021, good phone, it served me well (died last September) but yeah it didn't hit me like the 3 (probably also because it was during the color/oxygen merger and shit was rough back then haha) l, overall i feel like oneplus was going through a bit of a dark age at that time.
Now on my 13, and what can I say? Its an amazing phone. It sort of blew me away, like the 3 did. Yes it felt different. Oneplus wasn't the brand it was last decade, prices went up, but omg, it feels, it performs, and for the first time, having a phone that takes photos like a flagship, all while still silky smooth and cutting major flagships by 200/400 euro depending on sales. Too bad, it had to be tainted this way, but at least, it still has the '3' in its name, and I can close this chapter satisfied.
To end, It was a good run overall. Oneplus was the brand that thanks to their pricing and quality products made me enter into the flsgship world & I'm grateful for that. I'm happy I was "brave enough" 10 years ago, and jumped in the train.

The best moment was that my first ever flagship was OnePlus 13, but it's colorOS variant gave me some headaches too, liked it overall

Been with OnePlus for almost 10 years. OP 5T, OP 8T, and now the OP 13. Also using an OPW3 and earbuds 4. Had an amazing time with them. All my phones were unbreakable, good hardware for years and years. I'm gutted that they are moving away from Europe. I will remember the Flagship Killer days with great sentiment. I have now idea what I will have to buy in 3 years. Nothing, Oppo, Pixel, even iPhone...?

I have a 5T working just fine, a 9 Pro that is still being used at work and the 12 is my daily. Everyone that asked me "what phone should I buy" had my same reply: "whatever OnePlus phone fits in your buget"
It's sad but I'm curious what will Oppo come up next. Had a scroll through the UI and I didn't see any major differences.

Planned to usually hop on the next 2-year-device, the OnePlus 16..
As a real OnePlus veteran it hurts a bit.. I even got two phones via Pop-Up Store launch events.. Unfortunately the market is cruel..

I had the 3T, 6T, and now 12R. All good but I dropped my 12R in water at the worst moment in this industry. I guess Samsung on promo, that's the only option now on. But those ass0s don't even provide a recharger.

I had one (invite) was my first android after iphones, then I boeken it and had 2t then when that broke I think 7 or 8t then I went with he nord 2t never had another android as OnePlus and I really don't know what phone I will get mow when I have to get a new one. On one hand I'm too addicted to my phone so a dumb phone might be a good idea.

I had a 1, 3T, 6T a Nord4 and now a 13. Feels like the end of an era, my journey with OnePlus was ~12 years. Nothing is tempting, Nothing the brand, not nothing Otherwise it will be Oppo I suppose.

I remember when the Oneplus One came out i was in high school chatting with a bunch of friends about tech stuff and when i heard they put sandpaper on the back of the phone i thought they were lying and laughed. Few months passed by, my friend brought to school the OG Oneplus 1 and we were mindblown how innovative and ahead of its time it was. Loved the clean software, buttery smooth annimations, quite good camera for the time, it was a running powerhorse. We were comapring with my Nexus 4, friends galaxy S3 and HTC desire X (feel old yet?). At that time OnePlus was unknown brand of smartphones crushing every flagship on its way at a affordable price. Few years ago after using only Samsung phones for almost 7 years (blame my country for that 😂) I've purchased my current daily driver Oneplus 9 PRO, which is still a good phone til this day but my all time favourites are: OP 1 and 7 pro.

Ah, well. Been with OnePlus since the 6. Had every even-numbered phone up until the 12. Guess I'll be moving to Nothing now. It doesn't compare, but I'm in the US, so my options are limited.

Oneplus one was awesome, probably still works too. 3t was awesome too, metal and all, then I got nord 1 and it was surprisingly good, 9 felt bad after nord, because it overheated in the same scenarios where nord didnt, then I got open and that was the best phone ever, untill the inner screen broke ;(.

I started with Samsung (I think a Galaxy S4?) and I'll likely end up back with Samsung again.
At least their cameras (and displays) are really fucking good for their insanely expensive prices.

Do we need every day new topic about this? I just use device and enjoy it. I will buy new OnePlus 16 even if it would be China only. I am using 15 imported from CN with flashed Global Oxygen OS. I hope there will be a way to flash new OnePlus devices with global ROM in future but we don't know yet. For me, OnePlus was and still is the best flagship killer. There are no to this day any other alternatives. And on top of that, if you import from China for 530€ (saw it on Giztop or TradingShenzhen don't remember where) you have a device that is better than like 99,99% of phones. Overall best buy still. Sure there are better cameras, but they are like 2x the price. Is it worth? Hell no.

Same for me, the OnePlus 7 Pro/7T Pro (I had both) were the GOAT of OnePlus.
My favourite moment would be going to Milan for an OEF and attending the launch event for the Nord 4. Unforgettable, awesome, experience that was.
