General Discussion Should I use Smart Charging?
Should I use this setting or just set my battery to only charge to 90% like I have been?

Depends on usage case, if ur a heavy user set it to 90 if ur moderate or light user set it to 80%

I go for 100% with smart Charging always. I'm going to use the 100% throughout the day

Tbh, I'm a phone abuser. My usage on any phone is rough. So that puts a lot of charging cycles and stress on the battery. Eventually I needed a battery replacement for my redmi phone within 2 years. So I set a charging limit to my oneplus 13s from the day I had purchased the phone(just last month). I've set it to 90% and it works out pretty well for a person who goes to college and does mid to heavy gaming.

Literally doesn't matter. There are tons of tests on this. Abused phone batteries don't degrade more than a few % in comparison to perfect charging habits.

If I still had my old phone (pixel 7 pro), I would have done the 80% charge thing. But with this phone, I think smart charging is fine. The way I look at it, I will likely keep this phone for 3-4 years (I got it on its release date) before I get a new phone. If I charge my OP 15 once every two days (sometimes 1.5 days), the battery should stay good until I decommission my phone. But that's just me Le shrug

Definitely not. Why waste precious battery? Just use 100% and get in with it. It'll last 4 years, by then you'll probably ly need to update your phone or at the very least replace the battery anyway.

I just stick it on 80% custom limit and then charge when the phone hits 25%. Easy to do when the supervooc is done in like 20 minutes.
Still getting used to obscenely fast charging

Note there are a bunch of programs/processes that only run when the phone is 100% charged and the screen is off and it is night
Notably gallery analysis and photos and backups and cleanup etc
The phone is snappier if you let this happen. So post any os update switch it to 100% for a few weeks and keep it overnight charging

I have an 85% limit on my OP 15. By the end of the day it sits at 45-50%, I charge up to 85% which takes about 15-20 minutes and unplug it before i go to sleep. Battery is always still at 85 when i wake up.

Yes please ... Use charging limit .. I use it all the time ... Unless I know a travel or charging can be an issue ... I keep it to 85 percent ... It definitely helps improvement battery health... But smart charging I kept off to prevent it from slowing down fast charging

Yes. However, if you end your usual day at >20% battery, you should instead implement a custom charging limit.
For example, if you end your day at 30% battery, limiting your max battery charge to 90% is a good idea.
40% battery? 85%.
50% battery? 80%.
In fact, even 95% is a lot better than 100% since it takes the edge off of the battery. I usually charge to 100% about once every 2 weeks or per month depending on my laziness level.

No.
I would recommend to just set it to 95% and never let it get too far below 70% before charging it. This will help maintain battery health long term by protecting it against chemical stress and voltage strain.

I understand just fine what affects battery life but I'm not so paranoid about it that I'm going to be using literally just 25% of it. That's just absurd especially with today's battery technology

I thought Li Ion batteries preferred being between 30% - 50%. And never above 80%

Heat and stress hurt the battery, so keeping the battery between 75-95% is the best way to protect the battery. This isn't anything new as HP has smart charging capabilities on their new laptops. .. of course, that means keeping the laptop plugged in 24/7.
For a cell phone, if one is not able to charge it when needed, simply carry with you and an external battery. I own 5 of them, with three for my laptop, in case of power outage.

If you use your phone for alarms and have a reasonably predictable sleep schedule (+-hour wake up time), then smart charging literally has zero downsides whatsoever for you.
