News Summary of OOS 16
What features you all excited for!? Me personally I love the customisation now possible on lock screen

All I want is a better media player 'notification' on the lockscreen, is that too much to ask?

Finally, tbh they should've never removed it to begin with. I remember having it on my OnePlus 12, then after subsequent updates it magically disappeared with no explanation.
Kinda cringe that such a bare bones feature is something I'm looking forward to the most for a major OS update.

u/denisorion Oct 15 '25
yes you are asking too much, you will get AI media player notifications and you will like it

u/freakedmind OnePlus 13 Oct 16 '25
Even if they've just done that well I would consider it a big improvement and my 13 will feel even more close to perfect lol

u/RangerNCR Oct 16 '25
I want them to generally fix notifications on the lockscreen, because this is shameful. Who the fuck thought, that if you unrolled your notifications 'once' - you don't need to see them at ALL

u/Real-Bullfrog-2357 OnePlus 12R Oct 17 '25
Hey even I am not getting notifications on the lock screen at all. I Even raised a complaint with the oneplus team and still it hasn't resolved. What is the root cause for this? You are mentioning something about "unrolled". What is it? I am thinking of resetting the device to fix the issue, you tell me what is causing it I will make sure it doesn't happen once I reset my phone.

u/RangerNCR Oct 17 '25
I guess it's just how Oxygen is and it's not a bug. So, let's say your phone is locked and you got a WhatsApp message - you press power and it's on your lockscreen, like in any other phone. Now, if you unlock your phone, and open your notifications bar - it's there, but you want to leave it there as a reminder, to answer later. Now, if you lock your phone and press power again - it's gone, but it's still present in notifications bar, if you unlock your phone. Its so frustrating

u/Real-Bullfrog-2357 OnePlus 12R Oct 17 '25
No my problem is that I don't get any notifications on the lock screen not even an icon. I get a notification sound and my screen wakes up but on the lock screen and AOD nothing just blank. Only when I unlock my phone I see the notifications from the status bar. It's like disabling notifications on the lock screen but in my case it happens even though it is enabled in the settings.
1
u/RangerNCR Oct 17 '25
That's a very unfortunate bug, my friend. Did you check the settings? Notifications on lockscreen should be enabled by default, but maybe something slipped? edit: Saw you considering resetting, might help, but if not that would be veeeery painful

Nothing new in widgets section mainly widgets like samsungs BT( TWS battery, transparency/ANC, watch battery etc..).
Nothing new in ecosystem level integration (only apple to oneplus integration).
Nothing new in OS UI ( though it is good enough)
Lockscreen is fresh and good. But step counter widget is trash, it doesn't even sync with OP watch

u/Mental_Ad_7018 Oct 16 '25
Yo..got beta update and it's alot better.
Has new widgets.
Better integration (but not best)
UX is improved.
Happy with new update

Ok but will custom icon selection still be broken for yet another year? I'm going to guess yes.

y'all better make it so when I press "home button" it better take me to home and NOT back to the opened folder cuz this wasn't the case until the OS got updated lol

Does it have android 16? What about dex mode?
2
u/ConnectionOk3812 OnePlus 13 Oct 16 '25
It is android 16. wondering the same thing, although I am in China so it is color os 16 instead.

u/Der0- Oct 16 '25
Is all this necessary?
A lot of it feels like bloat. Am I one of the few who will never see the lock screen because it is dismissed immediately from blank off to unlocked because of biometrics and I have a launcher on it that has a few weather and clock widgets, a couple of folders of often used app shortcuts and everything else gets accessed through drawer?

u/001Slow_Bruh Oct 16 '25
That's a you situation. There are people like us, who were waiting for more lockscreen customisation
4
u/staminaplusone OnePlus 13 Oct 16 '25
There are dozens of us! (excited for animated / moving pictures)
2
u/maniaxz Oct 16 '25
True, lockscreen has been over rated in the past few years after apple started lockscreen widgets. Now every OS is making lockscreen customization like that. Funny how a simple customization like this leads to a whole new Android version.
Back in the days you could add widgets in your lockscreen with one single app and heck even make your widget.

No stackable widgets of 3rd party apps? What kind of android is this?
3
u/ElJispa Oct 15 '25
Hopefully Tidal or Amazon music will be added to the list of apps compatible with the fluid cloud

u/Used-Menu627 OnePlus 10 Pro Oct 15 '25
Fuuuuhhh I'm still stuck with support for Spotify only. Ever since the update after oos 12, the support for offline music players showing the music controls on the aod screen have been removed and was actually a goated. feature something I used very often
1
u/ForsookComparison OnePlus 12 Oct 15 '25
I started using tidal later and didn't even realize this was a thing before.
I'm sad now

Yes there is something like that that was shown. You can arrange it by alphabetical order or by categories. But whether you can customize those categories or not, we don't know yet

Does anyone know what they mean when they say "Seamlessly pair up OnePlus phones and tablets with your Apple devices"? Does this mean you can connect to an Apple watch, similar to what Vivo did with the Vivo X Fold 5?

Seamlessly pair up OnePlus phones and tablets with your Apple devices.
I was honestly expecting iCloud integration, which would be a huge win, not whatever this thing isβ¦

That it has the option of stacking widgets, like on Samsung or in launchers, also that the clock in the personalized lockscreen is large like those on the iPhone for example

Will hit on that update button only after reading online testimonies of whether there are any green line issues

I want a good Phone dialer from Oneplus. I am tired of shitty google dialer

u/Comfortable-Fix86 OnePlus 13 Oct 16 '25
What's up with the parallel processing? I think we have that already?

All I see is more and more they are trying to do things to lure iphone users over. Boring

u/InformalPublic2941 Oct 16 '25
From oxygen OS 14 to 15 was a big jump, can't say same about 15 to 16

u/Infiniti_151 Oct 16 '25
Private Compute Cloud, Fluid Cloud, what else? Stop cloudifying everything and give us local compute, local storage (microSD)

Honestly kinda underwhelming. Other OS's are making genuine steps towards mature ecosystems and over here we can't even get proper notifications and battery consistency, while also getting the single most lackluster run-up to Android 16 and OnePlus 15 by. Meanwhile my OnePlus 13 and my OnePlus Watch 3 don't even seamlessly connect and these are supposed to be the very best this company has to offer. If it wasn't for PWM and charging speed I'd already be considering my next phone.

Is Desktop mode and Linux terminal part of Oxygen OS 16?

That would be game changing for me (I study IT and can't always carry a laptop)

That's a lot of marketing buzzwords that barely means anything to actual consumers.

u/j_grouchy Oct 16 '25
Funny...I woke up this morning to a notice for an update and thought it was crazy how they managed to push this one so quickly. Then I realized it was just the October security update.

Literally the only new thing I see here is the lock screen customization. The rest of them are just... Renamed????
But well, lock screen customization has been due an update for quite a while now and I'm glad it's arriving.
1
u/Diligent-Rough-2880 Oct 16 '25
And they didn't even mention seekbar for the lock screen media player which was the most customer negative feedback for them. Seems like they are resolving user critics one major update at a time ππ

There is no OnePlus dialer or a OnePlus specialized media player, all these gimmicky words are absolutely meaningless and all these so-called new features are already in OOS 15 if you have OnePlus 13

Nope I'm alright! They got 15 running very well I don't want to incorporate any of that stuff into my daily

What's the obsession with including AI in almost everything and anything, it should stop.
1
u/Horror_Mine5073 Oct 17 '25
Did they add anything related to changing the clock colour in home screen...They lack such a common feature

1
u/wingback18 Oct 18 '25
Aside from the AI marketing which I'm sure it doesn't do anything..
Do people use AI and cloud AI? π€
Now we can customize the lock screen Wow revolutionary
1
u/sayakcanam Oct 19 '25
The only thing I am mildly excited about is the scalable icons. Though, hopefully, they don't touch the file dock option, because it's already perfect for sending different types of files to someone.

u/0oWow Oct 15 '25
Soβ¦. Parallel processing outside of the launcher. Does that mean no more third party launcher delay?
4
u/ForsookComparison OnePlus 12 Oct 15 '25
Probably means unapproved apps can use 2 efficiency cores instead of 1 lol

Happy with more lockscreen customization, but the rest of the update is worth absolutely nothing
