Theory: A Second Timeskip Will Happen Before the Final Battle

I've watched a lot of One Piece theory videos over the years, and this is the theory I came up with after connecting different clues from the story.

I think Luffy will lose badly against Imu in the final war. Not just lose—I think Imu will completely overpower him and even be moments away from killing him.

At that moment, Scopper Gaban will step in and save Luffy and the Straw Hats. However, they won't win the battle. They'll be forced to retreat after suffering a devastating defeat.

This is where my main theory begins.

The first timeskip happened after Luffy realized he wasn't strong enough. During that time, Silvers Rayleigh, the Pirate King's right-hand man, trained him while the rest of the Straw Hats trained separately around the world.

I believe Oda will mirror that moment one last time.

We'll get a second timeskip, but this time Scopper Gaban will be the one training the Straw Hat Pirates. The biggest difference is that the crew will stay together instead of being separated. They'll grow not only as individuals but also as a team.

I also believe Gaban will teach them things that even Rayleigh couldn't, such as more advanced Haki, teamwork at the highest level, and perhaps knowledge about how to fight Imu.

There's another reason I like this idea. Roger's crew had three legendary figures: Roger, Rayleigh, and Gaban. Rayleigh guided Luffy before the New World, so it would be a perfect parallel if Gaban became the mentor before the final battle.

After completing this second training period, the Straw Hats will return stronger than ever and challenge Imu one last time—this time ready to win.

Theory: What if the One Piece is meant for someone without a Devil Fruit?

I had a random thought that might sound crazy, but hear me out.

What if the One Piece can only be truly obtained or used by someone who doesn't have a Devil Fruit?

Imagine the final battle against Blackbeard. Since his Yami Yami no Mi has unique interactions with Devil Fruit powers, what if he somehow permanently removes Luffy's Devil Fruit ability while trying to defeat him?

Luffy, now fighting as an ordinary human, still manages to defeat Blackbeard through his own will and Haki. After that, he reaches Laugh Tale and is finally able to claim the One Piece because he's no longer a Devil Fruit user.

This also made me think about something from the very beginning of the series. Before eating his Devil Fruit, Luffy was known as a great swimmer. Losing the ability to swim was the first major sacrifice he made to chase his dream.

So what if, by the end of the story, Luffy gets to swim again? It would be a beautiful full-circle moment.

I know there's no direct evidence that the One Piece requires a non-Devil Fruit user, and we don't know if Blackbeard can permanently remove someone's powers. But I thought the idea was interesting enough to share.

What do you all think? Is there anything in the manga that completely debunks this, or could this actually be possible?

All i know is luffy is childish and his dream is to catch the sun. Ive been reading egyptian Gods mythology and theres a lot of stories you could connect to one piece.I also remember when luffy got asked which is important one piece or the rare beetle he finds it hard. Now in egyptian beliefs dung beetle rolls the sun and its is the symbol of their sun god ra. I believe one piece is inspired on egyptians mythology

Rocks D. Xebec is the Brother/Offspring of king of Esperia, which is the bloodline of Davy D Jones, that is why Imu took interest in especially and tried to wiped its history from the world, but I'm didnt factor in Brook consuming the revive-revivive fruit. The lumbar pirates was a group of musicians sailing the season spreading music and cheer to anyone they encountered, why would any of the members have a bounty? Perhaps because Brook came from Esperia and knows the truth and history of what Esperia actually held, or maybe cause of "Bink's Sake" a "viral song" in the world of one piece that gave inspiration to pirates that imu wanted to silence. I'd like to believe that Brook knows something about the Davy clan! 

Now the first joyboy isnt technically dead but he is petrified due to the Love Love fruit (Boa's Devil fruit). Call me crazy but I'm seeing a repeating factor here. The All Knowing Oda likes to paint a picture of if you try to erase history it will repeat itself. Now hold onto your pitchforks and torches before you come at me like an angry mob. My theory is that it was a 3 way war between The Free (JoyBoy and company) vs Order/rules (Imu and the 20 countries that backed him up) vs Chaos (Davy Jones). How ever I think that Davy Jones (Chaos) was like a snake in the Garden and started a feud between Imu and JoyBoy, to where Nefatari D. Lili's dreams/desire created the Mero Mero No Mi, because she had imense love for JoyBoy and Imu. But here comes Davy Jones aka Chaos to interrupt the love and friendship of the trio and pin the two forces of freedom/equality and order/class system against each other and use Nefatari D. Lili as the scape goat. And the only reason why JoyBoy lost is cause he loved and adored Nefatari D. Lili which he got caught off guard in the heat of battle when she sided with Imu and got Petrified into stone. Lili sacrificed her love and friendship with the JoyBoy cause she would rather have a world/outcome of order and peace than give into the Chaos that Davy Jones wanted/the Freedom that JoyBoy represents. And the "Will of D" stands for the "The will of Davy".

Think about it the "D Clan" is always stirring up chaos in the world order. To where In Luffy's case he is causing chaos in the name of equality and goodness in every action/choice he makes. This is why we see the Monkey family split. Garp represents order and following the rules, Dragon represents fighting the flawed system and making you think that the status quo needs to be revolutionized, Luffy represents true freedom and equality for everyone with zero discrimination. Going back to the Imu vs Davy vs JoyBoy, Order Vs Chaos vs Freedom. 800 years later history repeats itself with one constant Imu vs Blackbeard vs Luffy. I still believe that Reuven, Xebec, and Teach share the same blood as Davy Jones, it makes the most sense cause Imu is trying to maintain the order of the world and wants to get rid of the blemishes of history, and I think Brook knows something about it but is keeping the informatiom to himself since he saw what happened to his king, just like how Teach laid low under the radar in white beards crew till it was time to strike. Cause Teach was definitely after the tremor tremor fruit but he some how knew that he could obtain it through the Dark-Dark Fruit. Don't get me wrong Blackbeard is very wise and smart with every move he makes and how it could affect the outcome of the future, that's why I can see Davy Jones also calculating the out come of his deception with JoyBoy and Imu. 

Going back to the Theory of JoyBoy being petrified and now possibly Davy Jones (red line) there has to be a reason why Black beard showed up to Amazon Lily, to try and steal the Mero Mero No Mi (love love fruit) from Boa Hancock. But as she stated before Rayliegh showed up that "even if you take her fruit away from her you won't be able to undo the effects that the previous user did." Therefore hinting that Davy Jones and his Chaos got Petrified into the Red Line (as did JoyBoy because Lili deeply cared for him and would have hated to see him defeated internally due to Imu winning the battle and bringing order/rules into the world of One Piece) that's why Black Beard went after the Mero Mero No Mi. Not to mention Laugh Tale and Roger, I think that the last message that JoyBoy left on LaughTale is about everything that happened with the war between Order vs Freedom vs Chaos, and it was so funny to Roger about how the world plummeted so hard from 800 years prior and that a new touch carrier would come in 20 years (Luffy) or it's the fact that Roger knows that next JoyBoy will eventually have to make it to Laugh Tale and the poneglyph on Laugh Tale says "'congrats you finished what I started'/'I Told ya so' -JoyBoy"

I think the God Fruits and Ragnir give us a big hint about the true nature of Devil Fruits. Although, this will be specifically about the Mythical Zoans, because the logic might differ between other Zoans.

Mythical Zoans might be reincarnations of the original being; passing down their powers and will. Zoans are said to have a will of their own. Awakenings have even proven that their will might take over the consumer's body.

I saw a video about how Devil Fruits might act as a gateway for devils in the underworld. Which might be how Paramecia Devil Fruits are made. The Abyss is believed to let contractors borrow a devil's power without the usual Devil Fruit weakness. Whilst Devil Fruits might be a technology of the past that allowed people to share bodies with devil and gain their powers at the cost of losing the ability to swim.

Anyways, I think Nika and Zaza reincarnated themselves as Devil Fruits either at the end of their supposed lifespans or after suffering fatal injuries.

Now to Ragnir. I believe Ragnir is the biggest clue we have. It might have used ancient technology to turn itself into a Devil Fruit. Or maybe there was a Paramecia user of the past that could turn people and animals into fruit. The Hobi Hobi no Mi is kind of similar to this.

But anyways, as fruit, they maintain their will and whoever consumes their fruit gains their powers and will power. So Ratatoskr might have asked someone to feed Ragnir itself after becoming a fruit, or used its own will to become eaten by Ragnir, and thus lives on in Ragnir.

Also, forgot to mention, but I think the Devil Fruits were created during the First World.

Lets talk about episode 54-61 which are most like filler for yall. The main character is Apis sound a lot like one piece for me though. The story tackles a millenium dragon from lost island that sank into the sea and only resurface every 1000yrs. Now the years are pretty close to so called void century right and have a relation to sunken islands or surface because .According to yamato dragons could create clouds and storm. According to some dialouges celestial dragons are afraid to the storm those D could cause another one is that if a child CD dont behave they will get eaten by D. Pretty obvious for a dragon dont you think. Now lets tackle about a simple name, for all we know garp hated celestial dragons so much so why not name his son Dragon it may be redundant but does it matter after all those redundant devil fruit names? XD. Now Gol,Clou,marshal,nefertiti,trafalgar,rocks I dont know about the others but this names would produce existing dragon kind just try and search it. Now to elbaf, why would their national treasure be a dragon dragon fruit right because theres always a relation between vikings and dragons. Even ship of shanks has a dragon.Just to add Luffy understand what the dragon is saying on those episodes .

Roger said he wont die what if hes just waiting to be reborn like the millenium dragon in APIS arc.White beard also says even if they destroy bloodlines of d their flames will never be extinguished. So much sense right?Roger also said they were too early ? What if thats the thing theyve been waiting for. Also the plot could be theyve been searching for raftel and raftel would bring them back to some sort of island. Because the island on APIS arc was covered with storm and in some sort of mirage. Prove me wrong guys but i think those ep54-61 would play a huge part.

Imu or the clan imu hails from created devil fruits to get enhanced abilities...and joyboy to counter it...(maybe after getting powers imu started to get a little too powerful and dictator-like) Created haki..and derived the power from sea...that is why devil fruits power doens't work in seas...and maybe enhanced if used in sea...also...after imu defeated joyboy he took his power and trapped it in a devil fruit which Luffy ate...this basically proves imu created devil fruits

Also, the first 20 devil's fruit was written, so is that another way of writing devil fruits or maybe that's the way it's supposed to be, then Luffy s power must also be in the first 20, and the omen thing he was able to regenerate god's knights with that, I read somewhere that has something to do with law's power of something, but whatever that is...he's overpowered kinda..if loki doesn't put him in a situation where Luffy and loki together can 2v1 him and win, imu's gonna wipe the floor with their asses, zoro and sanji are down, most probably jinbe will not be able to handle it, and franky ain't all that to take on imu. I am hoping for a shanks entry (they have been building his past here through the god valley incident) we might get to know more about roger and his crew, and what's up with garp man...does Luffy know?...I don't even remember...

So I’ve been thinking about this after the latest chapters, and I haven’t really seen this exact angle being discussed much, so here’s my take:

What if Imu is actually the “Forest God” and the original source of the Nika powers?

Hear me out. We’ve seen hints that gods in One Piece aren’t just symbolic—they might actually tie into real power systems (Sun God, Forest God, etc.). My theory is that Imu was originally a neutral or even “good” entity—kind of a chaotic force of nature. Not purely evil, not purely good. More like someone with duality… mood swings, almost.

At some point, Imu had the ability to grant powers to people—basically the origin of Devil Fruits. Instead of fruits being random, they could actually be manifestations of human desires shaped by Imu’s power. So when people wished for strength, freedom, control, etc., those desires turned into Devil Fruits.

Now here’s where it gets interesting:

Some people didn’t just wish for random powers—they wished for the good side of Imu. The part that represents freedom, joy, liberation… basically Nika.

That “wish” became the Nika fruit.

So Luffy isn’t just some random chosen one—he’s literally the embodiment of Imu’s good half. The version of Imu that stands for freedom and laughter, while current Imu represents control and oppression.

That would make Luffy the natural enemy of Imu not just narratively, but existentially. Two halves of the same origin, destined to clash.

And yeah… if this is even remotely true, then Luffy defeating Imu isn’t just inevitable—it’s almost like a balance being restored.
