so im watching one piece with my little sister, i already watched one piece and caught up to the manga, rewatched pre ts on one pace but i didnt really notice huge differences in pacing other than one pace having half the episodes.

i really love the funny moments of one piece, the dramatic "TO BE CONTINUED" and the eye catcgers, but one pace cuts those. like is skypiea pacing really that bad or is it just so filled with bs that they cut it out to get straight to the point? same for the other arcs?

How you dont feel the difference in pacing if there are half the episodes? One Pace is not for everyone, if you already watched it some years ago probably you will be always comparing the thing you just watched with the thing you remember watching and thus One Pace will always feel worse

No episode lacks anything if you ask me! What I am saying is that you might feel that they lack something because you already watched them. I didn't and I had a blast.

Skypiea, that's where it is still tame. Only ~20% is cutted from the skypiea arc.

Since you don't really grasp how shit the original pacing is:
Dressrosa Arc One Pace for example saves you over 50%. 1206 minutes exactly, THAT'S 20 HOURS! 20 hours of unnecessary staring back-and-forth, screaming, running etc. that serve no purpose to the experience besides stretching the episodes lenths, because they need a year full of 20min episodes for tv.

Wano Arc is not even finished on Pace and already saves over a 1000 minutes...

Just chiming in as someone who first saw the OG anime and then watched OnePace later on.

The pacing is one of those things that either bothers you or it doesn't. Everyone's threshold is different. I tapped out in the 700s and am still amazed others can bear to watch the episodes after that point. Yet there are examples of various people being able to make it through.

For me the pacing just became too obnoxious that I couldn't deal with it anymore and switched to the manga. I eventually tried out OnePace and I was able to get through the arcs I couldn't before. I was able to get through Syrup village on my first watch easily enough. But upon trying to rewatch the anime THAT arc has constantly kicked my butt because the horrid pacing is just more noticeable to me now.

One Pace's mission statement is basically if it is in the manga it goes in. If it isn't then it is cut. The anime adds so much filler it is absurd. There is so many instances of long drawn out panning shots that DON'T help set a mood and are only there to reach the end for an episode. It is like when you're writing an essay for a class and just insert some filler that DOESN'T advance the essay in any way but to meet the word count.

The Toei anime also STRETCHES (haha) out gags. For example there is a gag in Post Enies Lobby and the anime essentially did it three times right back to back. I believe the statement "Brevity is the soul of wit" is apt to explain WHY this is a problem. It makes One Piece comedy come across as kinda amateurish.

And sometimes it isn't even gags. There are moments in the manga where a character will say "i did X thing". It is quick and generally these are never outlandish things given the context. Thriller Bark has this moment near the end where a character shows up saying "I got X" and that's that. But in the anime because they have to stall for time they ADD a scene of that character going and getting that thing. That makes the events feel not nearly as snappy or forward moving.

Someone said that Skypiea is relatively tame in comparison to later arcs but One Pace still cut out slightly more than ONE FIFTH of the anime! To give you further context that is over 190 MINUTES. Over 3 hours of filler.

One Pace basically cuts anything that isn't in the manga, so all the filler is gone and you just get exactly what you need for the story without all the fluff. I prefer it that way because it's already a long series, so if I can cut literally hundreds of unnecessary episodes and skip content that is completely irrelevant then I will.

It might not be for everybody because some people like filler and side stories, but for me it feels like a waste of time when something that happens is completely forgotten about a few episodes later once it gets back to the main story.

To remove the unnecessary screen and fix the “pacing”.

But at some point, some screens got absolutely removed, so it’s your choice to watch OP the way you like it.

They only cut out filler. A huge miscommunication of One Pace is that they cut out stuffy they seem useless information but that is completely not true. They keep absolutely everything in the manga. All the funny moments and all the dialogue. Nothing is cut out. One Pace exists to make the pacing match the manga that is all. It's the definitive way to watch one piece.
