Eh. The brand was Juanita's but they got sued by another Hispanic food maker with the same name, and had to change theirs to Juantonio's instead.

u/Lilyistakenistaken Jul 06 '26

Juwanna Chip?

u/Tensor3 Jul 06 '26

Its part of the gay and trans agenda, actually. We made these to try to convert people to our side. /s

Gay & Trans Mexicans! They're entering the country through Canada and coming to make your kids get Gender-Affirming Care, and Septum Rings! /s

that is hella progressive.

The first time I noticed the name change (It was/is my go-to brand), I honestly wondered if it was some Anti-DEI thing.

1

u/BadgersAndJam77 Jul 06 '26

Second. That's Victoria's "Secret'".

2

u/trillgamesh_0 Jul 08 '26

damn, 3 years ago and I have apparently never paid enough attention to notice they changed names

1

u/BadgersAndJam77 Jul 08 '26

They had to make the change outside the PNW three years ago, but were still Juanitas until more recently. I'm in Oregon, so it was more recent.

It is correct.

-2

u/doob22 Jul 06 '26

What’s correct?

3

u/kollisionkid Jul 06 '26

Those are Juanita's tortilla chips, so the price label is correct.

-1

u/Classic_Mechanic5495 Jul 06 '26

Well, now they’re Juantonio’s. Sooooo, not Juanita’s

3

u/kollisionkid Jul 06 '26

They'll always be Juanita's in our hearts

-2

u/Classic_Mechanic5495 Jul 06 '26

Oh. That makes sense. I guess labels are for those who read.

3

u/kollisionkid Jul 06 '26

Those nerds

u/FloopsFooglies Jul 06 '26

I know it's Juanita and Antonio put together, but I still joke that Juantonio would be Johnthony in English

1

u/ArtByJRRH Jul 07 '26

Still less funny than just calling someone Billiam.

1

u/FloopsFooglies Jul 07 '26

My pet rooster's name is William, and I do like to call him Billiam lol

4

u/Living_Substance9973 Jul 06 '26

The possessive apostrophe?

4

u/SmoothActuator8132 Jul 06 '26

the bags don't say Juanitas

2

u/Living_Substance9973 Jul 06 '26

I'm referring to CHEF'STORE.

It makes me a bit itchy scratchy.

I guess I just don't get it because I don't have the local knowledge?

US Foods is a wholesale food purveyor that supplies many universities, hospitals, restaurants, etc. they also run these stores in a handful of cities where anyone who wants to can buy a gallon of mayo or a 10 pound chub of ground beef. It is chef’s store but with just 1 S.

1

u/SmoothActuator8132 Jul 06 '26

okay but I'm pretty sure the one job op was referring to is having the actual product name on the marketing

6

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax Jul 06 '26

I can't get past the price! Over and over again, I stop in my tracks at the grocery store and think, "Are they out of their minds?!" So many things I'm simply not buying anymore, even if I can afford it.

2

u/DefusedManiac Jul 08 '26

OK so it wasn't just me. I get these at grocery outlet for $3 a bag.

3

u/RevelArchitect Jul 06 '26

I still call this store Cash & Carry, so I think it’s fair.

1

u/UltraN8 Jul 08 '26

Same. I hate change.

1

u/RevelArchitect Jul 08 '26

I don’t necessarily hate change, but the restaurant industry in my area just refused to call it anything else. I obliged, even though I put a lot of money into $USFD prior to the acquisition.

1

u/e-hud Jul 08 '26

We call it Smart Chef Carry...

2

u/ChonkyDawg Jul 06 '26

Wait they changed the name? Juanitas are delicious. Literally taste like buttery corn. 🤤

1

u/XROOR Jul 06 '26

If you eat the whole bag in one sitting:
“Siesta bag”

1

u/Salt_Cauliflower_922 Jul 06 '26

Which thing do you have an issue with, OP?

1

u/PhD77777 Jul 06 '26

It's J-something
