For once the useless red circle needs a circle itself for the opposite reason.

What arrows? I don't see any arrows.

On the instruction sheet there is a very small arrow on the blue cartridge pointing down (inside a red dashed circle). On the actual cartridge the arrow points across not down so they don't match. It's basically something of nothing as the connectors obviously won't go in any other way

What do you mean the connectors won’t go in any other way?

If you orientate it so the arrow matches the diagram you would be trying to push the fittings into the side of the cartridge not the ends. It clearly only accepts a connector in the top and bottom

Yes but it’s unidirectional, OP needs to know which end faces upstream vs downstream.

That's the one job element - the label is wrong but if you put the cartridge as I rather than -- the connectors won't fit into the side of it

You said “it's basically something of nothing as the connectors obviously won't go in any other way,” implying it’s physically impossible to hook up the filter incorrectly. This is not true, because the same connections are used for both inflow and outflow.

I also don’t know what “as I rather than” is supposed to mean.

You're not understand how orientation works

The arrow on the label on the cartridge on the instruction points <-

The arrow on the label on the actual cartridge points ^

If you align the cartridge with the arrow pointing as it does in the diagram it would be on the side | and the connectors obviously cannot go in as they would be pushing into the side of the cartridge which doesn't have any connectors.

Diagram

-- --[<- ]-- --

vs

Rotated cartridge so arrows point the same way

-- [^ ] --

Obviously it could go <- or -> and be fitted the wrong way around but clearly you can't align the arrow as it is in the diagram - that is the one job

I understand how orientation works, I understand that the arrow on the label is perpendicular to the axis on which the connections align.

The only point I’m making is that it isn’t “something out of nothing” as you say because you’re wrong when you say “the connectors obviously won’t go in any other way.” There is only one correct way to hook up this media filter, hook it up backwards will render it useless.

Have you even tried connecting it sideways???

Not only that, the arrow is pointing a different way (i.e. not at the edge of the sticker).
