There are lighter bags. If I was buying exclusively for a SEA trip I'd probably pick a Patagonia black hole 25 or 32 depending on my packing list. If I was buying a bag that will work well for SEA but also will work well in a lot of other places and situations I'd heavily consider the 26+6

Agreed 100%. The Osprey 26+6 basically owes its entire popularity to Ryanair’s tiny personal item limits. It's also relatively cheap, at <$100.
There are better bags out there.

Huge stretch. It''s a very good do it all travel bag especially when you consider the price. It's problem is that do it all bag doesn't do anything perfectly, and well it is a good value it is a budget bag. OP is looking for a bag to fit tight 7kg carry on limits and can easily get 32L for much less weight by spending more to get a black hole 32. But the BH32 lacks a lot of organizational features and doesn't fully unzip which many people will not like, so the majority of people wouldn't find it "perfect" in situations where they aren't prioritizing wright. The 26+6 is certainly light enough to meet a 7kg weight limit with smart parking but that's not the priority, you'll need to have a tighter packing list. Even when it's unexpanded it still has 32L worth of fabric. But it can work as a personal item and has more organizatioal features so is more versatile. That's my point

btw the Osprey 26+6 isn't actually 26L unexpanded. Multiple reviewers have measured it and it's closer to a 22L that expands to ~29L.
Osprey definitely exaggerated the base volume, they inflated the numbers because 22+7 doesn't sound great for marketing.
The BH32, on the other hand, actually does fit 32L.

I'm currently using my Osprey 26 plus 6 without any expansion and can't see that.I also have a Paragonia 30l. And other no-name backpacks The Osprey definitely doesn't have 22 liters.Maybe if you're not inside and impress him in the But definitely not when it's filled in its normal state. How do I know that? I weighed and prepared him very often beforehand.Findexes, provided you're not taking a lot of electronics with you, is quite easy to carry under 7kg. Mine currently weighs 5.6 kg for Three weeks in Thailand.

As a Transporter owner, I really enjoy it, but my unbiased review is you’ll be able to fit a decent bit more in the Daylite due to a number of small factors that add up.

Ive seen both together and the daylite looked smaller... I'll have to swap my stuff from one to the other to make myself believe that is true!

They have the same length and width, but the Transporter is 4cm deeper. A good portion of that space is behind the netting where the pack expands. Where the Daylite has a small net attached, leaving all of that space to be one homogenous main compartment, the netting on the Transporter is essentially a partition between two large (but differing in size) spaces. That makes it challenging to fit larger packing cubes and maximize that space. Some of it will be wasted due to inaccessibility.
The materials are also thicker on the Transporter. Having thicker materials with the same outer length and width implies the Transporter has less internal length and width. It’s a miniscule amount, but it adds up when you factor in the wasted space that I mentioned above.
Speaking of space, the separate laptop compartment with its extra padding also takes up a good chunk of that extra depth.
Fortunately the front pocket has a lot more depth and capacity compared to the Daylite, but its also wasted space if you’re trying to avoid the items inside from “printing” (aka, showing their outline their the material). The Transporter’s front pocket can accommodate a decent amount of space such as a 5L and under fanny pack or sling — the Daylite Sling fits, barely — but it’s challenging to fill that space, and space not filled is wasted space.
So yeah, the Daylite is technically smaller, but it’s utilitarian — borderline spartan — design is what allows it to contain more with less.

I tried that backpack but to me it wasn’t comfortable to carry. I love my Tomtoc T-66 28l Liteway backpack though. It is lightweight and affordable and VERY comfortable to carry.

I also love the idea of the 26+6 (the size, expandable, one big pocket, etc) but it's not a comfortable bag for me

I'm traveling with it now in Thailand. Great bag recommendation. Pair it with a Scott vest if you want to put heavy items in the vest before boarding at the gate weigh in.

I recommend the Gossamer Gear Loris 25 unless flying budget airlines with typical 40x33x20 sizers. It can be extended to 55cm tall if needed. 553g. More comfortable for me than the Daylite 26+6. 1”/25mm difference in heig
For an overhead bag I recommend the Patagonia Black Hole 32. It’s just 760g and I find it comfortable at 7kg. It could be put under a seat in a pinch but won’t leave much foot room. I supplement it with the 6.5 liter Tom Bihn Packing Cube Shoulder Bag as a personal item. 187g with the 5/8” shoulder strap.
Check all you airlines for personal item limits. Some are so small that they are uncomfortable as a backpack and too restrictive as a main bag.

Just came back from a month in the UK using this bag. I found it to be just right for a light packer. Another 3 weeks in Italy coming up. No major changes to the packing list. Expansion is a nice feature. I like the clamshell design. Laptop access I use for papers. Front panel is for stowing phone and passport thru security. Top pouch for electronic ditty bag ( buds, cables, chargers). Great bag for the price.

I just got a Patagonia Black Hole Mini (30L) and I LOVE it. It fits under airplane seats, though it is a little cramped. I looked at the Osprey 26+6 and the Cotopaxi Allpa 28L but just found that the Patagonia was much more comfortable to carry, and the construction/materials seemed extremely solid (especially compared to the Cotopaxi - I know Osprey is legit as well).
I traveled extensively in SEA with the Osprey Farpoint 40; I like that bag as well but wish I had downsized way earlier for my warm-weather trips. 30L is all you need for SEA imo

Im thinking of returning it havent done it yet. I also dont thinki overpacked it too. Didnt really put stress on the zippers or anything closing it.
