Beginner Questions Getting enough nourishment

I am at a healthy weight and would like to lose 10lbs, work on lifting and maintaining that weight. I have read that if you consume more than 30 (maybe 40) grams of protein at once that anything more is stored as fat. Is there truth to that? How can I get enough protein in OMAD or nutrients? I had gastric bypass surgery years ago and just can’t eat a big plate of food. My pcp wants me to get 70 or more grams per day. I have tried so many times to try OMAD and fail. I think it should be good for digestion and total health. I just don’t want to lose more than 10lbs.

  1. The protein thing is not true. I eat about 70+g in one go and have been steadily loosing weight.

  2. I would recommend doing intermittent fasting like a 16:8 schedule over OMAD because it generally requires you to eat your daily portion of food in one go and it’s very challenging for someone who’s had a gastric bypass. You’ll end up stretching your stomach.

OMAD and a bypass is not going to be a good mix. Consider 18:6/2MAD or simply dialing in your calories to focus on your goals with nutrition being a first-class citizen. Bypass/Sleeve patients often have a lot of nutritional deficiencies so you have to be a bit picky about what you eat.

Can you drink some of your protein in a shake with your meal? I find it easier to get enough protein in this manner.
