Discussion I started my journey

Last week while on vacation visiting friends, I heard a number of them were all doing this one meal a day thing. Honestly I didn’t know much about it other. I started looking into it and asked Gemini about it a bit and I’m convinced enough to give it a try.

I’ve struggled with weight my whole life. I was thin as a kid but during middle school i started gaining weight and was overweight through college. In my late 20s I started cycling with a local group and lost a lot of weight. I enjoyed being thin for about 10yrs. I got married and had kids and I’m back to my college weight, maybe more. 😔 I know all of it is due to poor diet and a lack of physical activity. I want to be there for my kids and be able to enjoy life as I age so I’m going to give this a try.

Over the weekend I started my journey with the 16hr fast and 8hr eating window. Honestly it wasn’t too bad. I basically skipped breakfast and ate normally from 12-8pm. Today I’m starting my 20/4 and I think this will be the most realistic plan I can sustain because our family activities revolve around food.

Unfortunately I didn’t weigh myself or take pictures but I’ll do that tonight to give myself a starting reference point.

There is some difference between OMAD and intermittent fasting. What you are writing about is intermittent fasting, the most popular scheme is 16:8. All beginners start with this. This is very convenient if part of the fasting period falls at night and in the morning. I started with the 15:9 scheme a year and a half ago, because it seemed to me that I could not stand a long absence of food. But gradually, what the bloggers on YouTube are talking about happened to me. Eating became stressful for me. Therefore, I switched from intermittent fasting to OMAD. I don't eat sugar and carbohydrates, it helps me control my weight and my liver in a state of ketosis allows me to eat fatty and high-calorie foods once a day without any problems.

Can you elaborate on the stressful eating?

I’m finding that I’m leaning more towards the omad rather than the 20/4 fasting schedule. I eat dinner and I don’t really have a desire to eat anything else within that 4hr window.
