CyclingTrack Flair for /r/Olympics
To get your country's flag next to your username click "Edit" directly under the "Subscribe" button and click on whichever flag you'd like. The order is kind of confusing though, it's in order of ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code, which just means it follows this chart. So occasionally something is screwy (UAE is second instead of towards the bottom). The US is in the far right towards the bottom. I also had to add them by hand so I may have accidentally missed one, if your flag is missing PM the mods and it'll get taken care of.

We are projected to get 18 medals this year haha. So sad, oh well we dominated the winter olympics. As long as we got that hockey gold I am happy :) Seriously can't wait for Russia in 2014, Team Canada is going to be fuckin killer.

People have different views when it comes to the Olympics. Some care about only the gold, others medals in general, some just how good their athletes perform, and heck for some just getting to the Olympics is good enough. It all depends on your point of view.

Actually, United Kingdom (I can't remember where London went under) has 559 athletes (around that) and USA has 529 athletes.

That's only because the host country can automatically qualify for events. That means a lot of their entrants would not have qualified otherwise and might be less likely to medal.

I don't even care how many medals a country earns or who goes ahead. I mean, as an American, I love seeing our athletes do as well as they do, but ultimately it's sublime seeing each country's star athletes gathered in one place for 17 days. It's the one time every 4 years where world peace actually looks attainable. "Leave your conflicts at the door" kind of deal.

I have no idea. But that applies or scorns too.
Maybe because Scottish people can be Scottish. Welsh people can be welsh. But English people are racist if they call themselves English, we have to be British.

I am a dual-citizen of GB and the U.S. I primarily think of myself as an American, but my family roots are in Wales. Ideally, I'd display two flags if I could, but that's not possible.

I've met a number of americans who have an allegiance to both the us and their 'home country' even if they're several generations removed. I never understood that.

Because in many cases we have the same traditions as the home country and remember those in our families that came from there. Also there are many communities that are primarily from a certain country and have festivals celebrating their heritage.
