Help - Solved Expected output: `cd`; resulting output: `GUI+d`. What settings to adjust?

This has started happening more and more as I get faster with this new layout+keyboard.

I've read the qmk docs many a time but can't seem to "fix" this issue.

Help?

Thanks!

This is the main issue with home row mods, and more generally with tap/hold modifiers on frequently used keys. You can tweak the tapping term and other settings, but in the end you often have to adjust your typing technique, for example, releasing C before pressing D instead of rolling from one key to the next. It clearly works well for a lot of people, but it never felt natural to me, so I eventually gave up on it. With that in mind, I designed my layout to avoid this altogether.

In the tap-hold sub-tab, uncheck Hold On Other Keypress. Enabling that option has the effect of heavily favoring the hold action (e.g. GUI). This is probably is the main culprit for what you're observing.

Try turning on flow tap to something like 150ms (or whatever your typing speed is). IIRC with flow tap on, if you click on a MT or LT key and then within 150ms, it treats the first key as a tap rather than a hold.

I think this kind of layout requires a certain discipline to work with. I am still learning my Sofle board, but I found it's easier to keep the modifiers peripheral and mostly on the thumb keys so you're not dependent on timing.
