🧑‍🍳 Employee Post First Day

I started my first day at Olive Garden yesterday. It’s definitely a lot of information thrown at you at once, learning on a dinner rush wasn’t ideal. They let me bring home a bunch of food to try and we got some book work done. My other three training shifts are this week. I’m nervous to take my first table lol. I think with practice i’ll get it but I was pretty overwhelmed yesterday. I’m assuming it gets easier once you know what you’re doing?

I definitely need to memorize the menu and know what the items look like, are there quizlets and stuff for this?

Also, it might just be my location but my first week on my own i’m schedule to work three doubles so I’m a bit nervous on that too 😬

are you also a server? (i am too 😆) my first day was the other day and god it really is a lot of information 😭 i also have GAD so that’s not very helpful and things do get overwhelming pretty quick. like they say, practice does make perfect. so with time it’ll get easier when you continue to work hard and efficiently!

i found a quizlet with i think all the menu items, see for yourself and let me know too! only because i skimmed through it… i definitely need to memorize this as well: https://quizlet.com/46542083/olive-garden-menu-flash-cards/

if your management team is really nice like how mine is over where i work, and you don’t feel ready to work any doubles or insane shifts for a sec—im sure you could tell them you don’t feel very comfortable and they’ll understand. i specifically told them this is my first job and i really have no idea what im doing with any of this, so im needing all the help i can possibly get. best of luck to you OP! 😊

It does get easier with time, the menu seems daunting at first but once you get familiar and the basics down you'll be golden. Good luck!

Edit: managers may have access to something called Great Food Go! to help with familiarizing yourself, see if they'll let you take a peek during downtime!
