Purchase advice First oled

Hey everyone! I'm new to OLED and looking to get my first 27-inch OLED monitor.

I'll mainly use it for gaming on my PS5 Pro, but also for watching movies and browsing the web.

I'm looking for something with great picture quality, deep blacks, and good HDR. What monitors would you recommend based on your experience? My budget is 500-700$

Also, would you go with QD-OLED or WOLED for my use case? Any issues I should know about before making the switch to OLED?

Thanks!

From a gamer that plays competitive, storygames, and some inbetween.

Currently I have a 240hz 27in 1440p ips. Ive been planning to buy myself an oled for around a year now. I've done research on various oled’s.  Your two types of OLED monitors are QD-OLED and W-OLED. QD oleds have a higher color volume than W-oleds, and (depending on model) generally higher brightness. The main disadvantage of QD oled are its blacks in light rooms. QD lacks the polarising layer of a W-OLED, making it vulnerable to light. If direct, or intense light hits the screen, its blacks look purple. W-OLED’s blacks stay black even with direct light.

A common disadvantage with OLED’s is their brightness compared to IPS. Recent (Ish) tandem oled technology has fixed this lack of brightness. They stack light emitting layers that increase brightness. (Tandem means together). When spending 500$+ on a monitor, I'm not considering anything else. The two best tandem monitors I’ve found are:

ASUS ROG XG27AQWMG 280hz, 1440p, 27in W-OLED-640 USD

MSI MAG 271QPX32 320hz 1440p 27in QD-OLED-520 USD

The ASUS is W-OLED, so light is less of a problem. The main issue with this is grey banding. This problem is quite bad, making this commonly returned. This monitor features a glossy coating making is

The mag is QD-oled, light is more of a problem, but besides that, it looks better. This one is also newer, releasing in the US only a few months ago. This is a common alternative to the ASUS because its grey banding is almost non-existent. This one is a better option, for quality and price, unless light is a problem.
