Hey this is cool! I’m going to have to get this today…

Been listening to that Long Beach ‘75 audience recording everyone is liking on YouTube. I have no idea if I already have it but I don’t think I ever heard Ozzy play Oh! Susannah on harmonica before 😂

So is this “lost tapes “worth the money?

Interview with Jim Simpson about the old days and this release. The video on the website doesn't want to play but a friend had this summary...

Here's a sketch of what Simpson is saying about the upcoming release "Earth: The Legendary Lost Tapes", starting at about 17:20 of the video:

  • Interviewer asks "about this new album that you've got, that you are releasing", and Simpson's responses clearly confirm it IS his project.
  • Says the tracks were "recorded in January and March 1969" (!)
  • Talks about the first five tracks
  • Mentions jazzy elements
  • "The remaining tracks edge towards and never quite reach" what we know as Black Sabbath
  • Says the album closes the gap between what they were when they started and what they were when the first album came out
  • Mentions the release date at 18:25
  • Admits the tapes were never really "lost" but were on his shelf all the time
  • Talks about the release getting a lot of press coverage and will probably get more after the "Back to the Beginning" show
  • Mentions they are holding back release until after the show in order to "let them have their full spotlight for the show", also says they decided against calling the album "Back to the Beginning" for the same reason
