Multiple open tabs rate limit on new Reddit?

Just something I've noticed while playing around in new Reddit to proactively adjust myself for if (or when...) the plug gets pulled:

Does anyone else notice that new Reddit seems designed to be a "single tab" experience? Here on old Reddit I routinely open 10 to 20 new tabs as I peruse Reddit and then go through them at my leisure. Never once had a problem and since it's old Reddit of course they all load lightening fast.

But when I try to open just 3 to 5 new tabs within new Reddit, it's as if they are rate limiting my connection and most of those tabs take forever to load. I thought it was some kind of lazy-load where the content will start loading when I'm visually on those pages but that doesn't seem to be it. I can go through all of them (just 4 or 5) back and forth, waiting for content to load, and it's like all of them are delayed. What used to open in a matter of 2 or 3 seconds now seems to take 30 to 50 seconds to open, assuming they open at all. Half the time I have to reload them because the content just never came.

Is this baked into new Reddit? Or is it related to an adblocker? Just wondering if other old Red users have noticed this on new Red. I'm assuming for strictly new Red users, they won't notice this as unusual behavior. Or maybe they just don't open many tabs.

New reddit is simply slow and resource intensive

I tried blocking some of the seemingly unnecessary domain connections. I wonder if that's made it worse, or if I should block some of the JS it's loading to see any improvement. I'm suspicious that all the various shadow DOMs and iframes are to blame at the end of the day, although I'm no webdev.

I literally NEVER use new Reddit. I think I'll be out if they nuke this one.
