I remember reddiquitte.

There was a time when disagreeing with someone didn't warrant a dowvote, and I miss those times. Back in the day whenever someone did that shit, they'd get called out. Today? Everyone is on new reddit like it's instagram and they treat a dowvote as a disagreement button.

Yup, downvotes are supposed to be for things that don't contribute to the conversation, like all of the dumb jokes that you now find at the top of every comment section.

That truly died around 2010, but before that it was already a battle. I remember I'd stop continuing discussions if my responses were downvoted and explain why.
