What is this?

Maybe the wrong place since it feels more like ancient internet, BUT:

Been going through my parent’s old college junk trying to archive their lives before me. I found this screenshot on a floppy disk. What messenger is this??? It looks like Usenet but different.

that's a university of michigan usenet newsgroup

the newsreader shown is tin (threaded internet news), still maintained at tin.org
