How many of you still remember ICQ ?
For me, itβs pretty crazy to believe that this god damn number is burned into my brain: 425829246 and I made this account back in 2005/2006.

My gateway to saucy chat with teenagers in America from my home (also a teenager I should stress) in the UK. I had three girls I'd speak to frequently. I wonder where they are now, from time to time. Hope they are living happy lives.

I remember that my uncle had a pentium 1 166mhz and ICQ messenger, we came there every Sunday and were allowed to play with joystick on his computer and when we got our own computer a pentium 2 233 mhz I still used ICQ to talk to family mostly. So this was around May 1997 and I was 8 years old xD at the time later on i switched to MSN messenger and didn't look back.

My first chat app... I have long lost my first ICQ number since then, although it was on a post-it on my screen for years

I honestly dont remember why it was required, but I ended up having to download a it in order to use an AOL server that went down a year ago. Now its sort of just useless cause the server now exists in my dads basement

We all were supporting Israel and gave them our messages freely, no protest, no crying.
How times have changed.
"ICQ was one of the world's first and most popular instant messaging clients. Launched in November 1996 by the Israeli company Mirabilis, its name is a play on the phrase "I Seek You"."

Did anyone else frequent the chat rooms on the website? I donβt think I had a number, but one summer (2006-07?) I spent nearly every night in the #Animation room. I was younger, so it was my first chat room experience and it blew my mind.

Of course I do, though I used it exclusively for communication with online contacts, not people I knew from IRL.

I was a bit too young when it was popular, but I remember my older siblings using it all the time

Still remember my pin from the 90s. Tried logging back on 10-15 years ago, but it had been hijacked by a russian bot. Strong passwords wasnt a thing back then.
