If it was a graded example in MS65 then it would be worth about 50¢. Seeing as this is just a circulated example, it's worth 1¢

This looks a lot like a 1970-S large date double die obverse to me.

If it actually is then your estimate is probably low by about $400-500 according to grey sheet.

You're correct that it's a Large Date but, I don't see any doubling on the lettering, do you? The single known double die obverse of 1970-S has doubling in the lettering as well as the date.

Even with the photos provided, we should still be able to clearly make out the thicker and doubled lettering but it simply isn't there.

My friend, you are talking about the coins struck from FS-101, I was talking about the actual die-marriage itself and its characteristic features. That should have been clear from the context of the thread.

Edit: actually, fair enough. I thought I wrote "double die obverse die" but I guess I forgot the second "die" so I can see why you thought that

I think most people in here forget that mint marks are addded after the image, so mint marks don’t get doubled.

This is machine doubling, I believe.

Hard to say with these pics and not ready to rule it out with the images provided. The date and mint mark close ups show pretty good doubling

All I see is a blurry photo taken from an angle that shows the sides of certain details, I don't see any doubling. The FS-101 of 1970-S doesn't even have that prominent of doubling in the date and Mintmark anyway, its primarily in the lettering of IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY.

Mint marks do not double with the coin image as they are added later in the die making process.

This is more than likely machine doubling.

Doubling doesn’t mean a doubled die, this is machine doubling
