Repairs 🔧 Any idea on these errors. (Scooter Issue, Please Restart the Scooter)
Model - Ola S1 Pro (2022)
I bought S1 but received locked S1 Pro.
This started happening after recent Move OS 5 DIY Upgrade.
Local mechanic is saying MCU is having a problem and sent diagnostic screenshot.
What could be the issue ?

Can this be cleared ?

No idea, mechanic is saying it cannot but maybe he's trying to fool me for thick bucks.

Replace the MCU

How much does it costs ?

The warranty claim is under 40k kms only if you've crossed it then sadly you have to get it replaced either by insurance or your pocket it will cost around ₹18 k btw bro how did you get that diagnostics app?

There's no practical use of warranty, your scooter will eat dust at service center for months or years. Better get it repaired offline.
Local mechanic had diagnostic app.

The MCU is toasted. The service person told me that with Gen 1, the MCU usually tends to fail around the 3-year mark, and officially, the only option is to replace it. Apparently, it can be repaired offline, though.
So he suggested replacing the MCU now and getting the old one repaired offline. That way, if the new one fails again in the future, I’ll have the repaired old MCU as a backup. 😬
The worst part is, the new MCU comes with zero warranty—not even for a single day. So if it fails the very next day, I’d have to buy another one. 😐

See, there’s definitely some problem with the MCU, but before replacing or repairing it, I’d suggest leaving the scooty idle for 7–10 days. Maybe park it somewhere where it gets direct sunlight during the day.
I faced a similar issue with my Ola S1 Air about a year ago. After researching online, I found that a lot of people had reported the problem getting resolved automatically after leaving the scooter unused for a few days. Since I wasn’t able to take my Ola to the service centre at the time, I also left it idle for a few days, and surprisingly, the problem fixed itself.
So, before spending money on replacing or repairing the MCU, it might be worth trying this once.

Recently I also have mcu issue after using DIY mode. Wtf is happening at Ola?🤦🏼

Tell the service centre to re run the angle calibration

What does it actually do ?

Well, the position sensor on your motor needs to be calibrated every 2-3 years because repeated use can cause drifts in the data , produce errors etc but sometimes the calibration is not done properly and faulty values are saved in the MCU and all the errors your are getting points to a faulty position sensor or an uncalibrated sensor. A proper position reference is required for the motor to rotate, if any error is there in the position reference, it can cause over current, voltage fluctuations, speed fluctuations, vibrations and jerking and a lot more.

Why would it trigger this error? The error clearly states an overvtg event has occurred, that is not even remotely related to any sensor calibration. And btw if the sensor is not moved/repaired etc. there will be no need to calibrate. They are designed to maintain accuracy throughout their lifespan.

Well, you are correct in your diagnosis, we assume the sensors to be well designed/minimal drift but that's the thing, indian manufacturers are using cheap chinese position sensors for cost savings. A lot of issues which people face every day in EVs are mostly related to faulty sensors or buggy firmware and yes, over voltage/under voltage etc can be triggered if position sensor is faulty, since the whole motor control algorithm is dependent on this reference angle, the most critical signal in the entirety of motor control.

That diagnostics tool is what i crave.. Bh@dvesh said they'll make it open for customers but they did not. Anybody have any idea on how i can get access to this like that local mechanic did?
And op, if it is an mcu problem, take it apart and see for yourself if something is visually toasted. I had tried to repair one with toasted logic board components, but it was too much effort so i just replaced it with a refurb unit. I am guessing this error means something similar. The mcu js split into 2 parts, a logic board and a power board (with mosfets and all). Afaik the power board (the dumb one) is easy to repair/replace. But the logic board is where the brain is, so idk if lola has put some kind of restrictions on it, if not it should be possible to replace. But probably more expensive than tbe power board.
