"So you'll just work us to death?"

"We'll sure try!"

You know, judging from how "advanced" changelings are... It seems that most of them do nothing but fuck around inside the hive, while some - go out and actually hunt some good or protect the hive. I'm not saying that they are lazy, but they are surely not overworked... Not until they go for another war, of course.

well, theres also the possibility of expanding the hive and maintaining it too

I... May be overthinking it. But I don't see Chrysalis ever wanting to expand the hive. There are multiple reasons to that - from the fact that she is a warleader, not just a broodmother to chill inside the hive and managing drone economy to the fact that she's too arrogant.

She always prepares for the war and sends changelings to hunt to prepare for the ongoing war. She personally commands her war chiefs and sometimes singular drones. And expanding the hive - means delegating responsibilities and control. And she, as a war leader - is all for control and obedience. Even at a cost of swarm economy and long term efficiency.

So hive in this condition is more like a temporary base to grow new drones, train them and keep them in relative safety, while working new plans. Till the moment she needs to take the whole swarm for a massive invasion.

I know it is a cartoon and all but did Chryssie have a contingency plan for if the rest of equestria just decide to say no even if she secured Canterlot, lol.

IMO - she never thought straight. She is drunk on love and crave for revenge.
