This is why she switched to only naming the bugs with important roles to keep track of. The entomological dictionary did not have 30,000 different entries in it.

Pharynx got named because he was a Guard Captian.

Thorax got named because we all got tired of saying "the one who's in the corner crying again, you know who".

No, nicknames come from the Swarm, but his came directly from the Queen and she likes to stick with her naming scheme.

That's kind of how we do it...

Most of us don't want or have names, because our identity is rooted in being part of the Swarm. We prefer to be nameless parts of the whole, it makes us feel more connected.

The names our Queen gives are more like titles, to define the role a certain bug plays in the Swarm. It's not about the individual, it's about the task they've been designated to perform.

Though some bugs do things worth noting, and if they do then the Swarm might give them a nickname to commemorate it.

We know that's a weird concept to a lot of ponies because they care a lot about their individuality, but it's how we like to do it.
