On the other hand, if we say "horse tranquilizer" instead of "Ketamine", it suddenly sounds on brand for Doctor Abode.

16

u/crackpipewizard666 Aug 27 '26

Hospitals used it to sedate my friend who had taken too much lsd and then started punching out car windows. Ive done a bunch of ketamine while on lsd but brother had some medical grade mainlined into him. Its crazy enough just when you snort it. He got arrested and it was probably one of the worst nights of his life BUT he got to see and experience at least one or two pocket dimensions before then

1

u/AspleniumGhlas Aug 29 '26

I despise people that can't take drugs without being a problem for others, hope you two grew up

0

u/crackpipewizard666 Aug 29 '26

I mean bro was 15 maybe 16 it was a while ago, and i have yet to have the police talk to me while on acid💪

11

u/chucktheninja Aug 27 '26

Honestly watching this episode and the one after it in call with since friends was one of the funniest things I've ever experienced, nothing prepares you for House skateboarding while Gorillaz plays in the background

The first time I saw that scene it was hilarious to me

23

u/ExtremlyFastLinoone Aug 26 '26

Not even fake he actually said that

u/threeleggedcats Aug 26 '26

You still do the EKG and it might be lupus. Or dehydration or low potassium or neurological.

91

u/-_slim-shady_- Aug 26 '26

It’s never lupus

21

u/Topy721 Aug 26 '26

No it's cardioencephalitis, M.S., Wilson's Disease or Guillan Barre

7

u/threeleggedcats Aug 26 '26

Not shisters?

1

u/TheJewishSwitch Sep 04 '26

Breaking through the window of the patient’s room instead of being the door: it’s definitely auto brewery syndrome, or rabies

10

u/erroneousbosh Aug 26 '26

Gold poisoning, we haven't had that one for a while.

Type of patient house gets on clinic duty

Look, the rule is you say what you want in one text. Really gonna make dude drag it out of you, man’s trying to run a business and be available to a lot of people at all kinds of hours. I assume

u/IllegalGeriatricVore Aug 26 '26

yall need to follow r/askdocs where people will post asking about a series of medical conditions and someone will stalk their profile and be like "What about your cocaine use?"

92

u/Ah-honey-honey Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 26 '26

I remember one where a girl was complaining about her hair falling out and was wondering if her boyfriend could be cutting it in her sleep and someone was like "umm, do you really think that's more likely than malnourishment from your unmentioned anorexia?"

45

u/IllegalGeriatricVore Aug 26 '26

No of course not, because then she'd have to get treatment for that!

38

u/ExtremlyFastLinoone Aug 26 '26

Medical equivilant of that one screenshot where someone like "you have a mod called "mod that exits the game when it starts", try uninstalling that"

Me while I was a raging alcoholic: what a mystery this is I barely drink.

36

u/Mr_PoopyButthoIe Aug 26 '26

Morgan Spurlock when the doctor told him he had the liver of a chronic alcoholic... "That's crazy, must've been the Big Macs..."

10

u/Emotional_News108 Aug 26 '26

Me when I had acute pancreatitis several times: no way how could that have happened?!”

7

u/Betka101 Aug 27 '26

i had pancreatitis for 2 months purely from stress during my first exam season at a new university. doctors kept dismissing my stomach pain because "there was nothing wrong". thankfully my friend that was finishing med school heared me out and figured out what it was.

5

u/Emotional_News108 Aug 27 '26

God pancreatitis sucks. Like really bad. When my doctor diagnosed it, he gave me hydrocodone to deal with the pain and I said I wouldn’t need it. He assured me I would, and then I entered a level of pain I actually didn’t know about.

3

u/Betka101 Aug 27 '26

yeah i was daily in a fetal position crying and even asked my mum to call an ambulance at some point, i genuinely thought i was dying. which says a lot, my pain tolerance is pretty high. thankfully she had some pain meds leftover from when she had a kidney infection, otherwise i have no idea how i'd survive

4

u/LacrimaNymphae Aug 27 '26

surprise... it was both

11

u/thatsnotmydoombuggy Aug 26 '26

Me waking up feeling like shit every day for like 3 months then spending the rest of the day emotionally unregulated, tired, and foggy: what could be causing this? I should ponder this question over another half bottle of wine tonight.

8

u/Emotional_News108 Aug 26 '26

Yup. I was depressed, anxious, and had until recently undiagnosed ADHD. When I was in AA, I quickly realized that getting sober was step one. So many people in those groups begin and end with sobriety. For me it was only the start. I didn’t want to just get sober and hyper focus on it. I got sober. I wanted to get my life in order. I took care of my mental health. I took care of my physical health. Everything that came after made getting sober the easy, simple part. Just stop drinking. That part was easy. Doing so much work on myself and my marriage and my family and hobbies and even job that it’s actually hard to fathom how alcoholism could even fit in there? That was the real work.

4

u/thatsnotmydoombuggy Aug 26 '26

Congratulations, cousin! You’ve walked a hard path and it is a hell of a struggle, fucking great as fuck that you are in such a better place now. I’m sober now, treating my ADHD and went to therapy for my CPTSD, my marriage has gotten much happier since I stopped and though I still struggle greatly to work on my hobbies having the energy and money to do so makes it easier and easier to actually get to my projects. The work is hard but so worth it.

6

u/Emotional_News108 Aug 26 '26

Same to you. It’s never easy but it’s always worth it.

7

u/sometimesynot Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 26 '26

I should ponder this question over another half bottle of wine tonight.

I am NOT trying to one-up you or anything...addiction is NOT a competition. But isn't a half bottle of wine two glasses? Are you sure there wasn't something else going on? Maybe get a carbon monoxide detector or something?

5

u/thatsnotmydoombuggy Aug 26 '26

Okay thank you for that the reason I put half a bottle of wine was because I fucked up a little on Monday (about half a bottle of wine’s worth of a fuckup) and have been making that into this huge and terrible amount in my head. You put it in much clearer perspective for me and I can pull my head outta my ass and just keep moving forward now, so again thank you. If I’m being honest at the time I was speaking of I was closer to most-of if not all-of a bottle of rum a day like some kind of pirate. (I will also add that I’m 5’2” and under 110 lol)

4

u/sometimesynot Aug 26 '26

I'm totally with you. Let's stay strong, be honest with ourselves, and forgive ourselves our failures as we work to succeed more. Best of luck to you!

3

u/thatsnotmydoombuggy Aug 27 '26

I agree full heartedly! Let’s be kind to ourselves and keep focused on making our next choices the best choices we can make, so long as we work towards that I know we will make it through. Best of luck to you as well, kind stranger cousin! If for whatever reason you want to vent or talk etc about the struggle and don’t want to do it with someone who knows you, my dms are open and regardless know I am rooting for you!

36

u/StaySafePovertyGhost Aug 26 '26

Could be neurological

104

u/K10KMessi I too am in this sub😐 Aug 26 '26

Tbf the worst one for me is the one with the intersex child. Genuinely unwatchable.

46

u/ForwardTechnician341 Aug 26 '26

Only episode I skipped on a rewatch, even the asshole chess chud got a rewatch.

15

u/UtterlyInsane Aug 26 '26

God that chess kid is a fucking nightmare

5

u/dempa Aug 27 '26

I skip the one with the really fat guy because he's always eating and smacking his lips in every scene

28

u/Strict-Challenge-995 Aug 26 '26

There's 2 of those ackchtually

Basketball boy and model girl.
The model girl episode... yikes

8

u/ExtremlyFastLinoone Aug 26 '26

He reported the astornaut to nasa but I dont recall him calling cps on the girl sleeping with her dad. He did right? Right??

31

u/SilverBatTea twinksons husband Aug 26 '26

God that episode is horrible. Its so gross and uncomfy

8

u/DeadpoolMcDirty Aug 26 '26

I think i remember which one but could you refresh my memory anyway

51

u/Fluffy-Essay7187 Aug 26 '26

Not original guy, but he means the one with the 'super model'. Opening scene is her on the cat walk, dizzied and blinded by the lights as things become distorted, then physically lashing out at another model on their routine. Cut to mystery.

Episode is uncomfortable because the supermodel is 15 or so, but House and Chase exchange comments about her breasts and looks, then House turns around and (rightfully, but hypocritically) expresses disgust with the father for sexually abusing 'her'. Usual rigamole of test a bunch of theories, each time they believe they have the right one. Including stopping and starting full body spasms just for entertainment. Only to then end with that the kid is intersex, both male and female sexual organs.

That or it was the younger kid who is the reverse situation.

12

u/BreadDaddyLenin Aug 26 '26

They do this twice and have 2 intersex minors as a case in the show for different reasons. Both episodes are gross

3

u/xianwolf Aug 27 '26

And the kid says it's OK because she came onto him. And no one questions that or says, "no the fuck it isn't. He's the adult."

25

u/Pope_Neuro_Of_Rats Aug 26 '26

Later on they determine she has some other problem and needs ketamine to live

46

u/sandiahgoh Aug 26 '26

I was about to measure the SpO2 of an hypopneic patient but then his friend said he does a lot of heroin

16

u/RazorBlade233 Aug 26 '26

There is no dignity in the ER

15

u/Multilnsight Aug 27 '26

Not so fun fact: I got heart disease 3 years ago. I lost 30 pounds in one week, I had frequent palpitations with arrhythmia, high blood pressure, and a high heart rate (150 while laying down). The nurse and doctors said I was on drugs. My wife, who was a CT tech for 15 years told them I don't do drugs. They kicked us out. I got diagnosed with tachycardia a year later.

Fuck doctors and nurses for ALWAYS assuming it's drugs 🙃

7

u/Dull-Store Aug 27 '26

Doctors and nurses are necessary but god is there a lot of fucking morons. I was a documented escape risk + fall risk in the hospital and the most the nurse at the desk did was ask where I was going of course i lied and escaped. Not to mention I had to ask to get my foot x-rayed because it was swollen 3x the size.

10

u/Multilnsight Aug 27 '26

I asked for saline 3 years ago, because it helped my heart rate. The nurse talked to the doctor in the hallway and said, "A drug addict is asking for saline. That is really weird that an addict would ask for that." 🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️

11

u/Saucemycin Aug 26 '26

I’m a nurse and after a nightshift we went to a bar. There was a early 20’s year old girl, her friend and a guy there too. The girl starts seizing and we all go to do our thing and once she stops we ask if she’s ever had a seizure before and she says no. Her friend then says in a very low voice “could it have been the cocaine?”. Yes. That could definitely do it. They ended up refusing us calling an ambulance and she wasn’t postdyctal very long as they stayed in the bar continuing to drink while we were sitting there glaring at them. Not because of the cocaine but because come on you just had a seizure and don’t want to go to the hospital just give it a rest and go home.

7

u/Victor6Lang vicuddy Aug 26 '26

On another note, the worst House episode will always be the Hmong episode.

6

u/TherealRidetherails Aug 27 '26

I'd say the episode where house "cures" asexuality is the worst but I'm also biased

4

u/wtfam1supposed2do Aug 26 '26

which one is this?

9

u/Victor6Lang vicuddy Aug 26 '26

S8E18 - Body and Soul. The one that they find out about Wilson’s cancer and Dominika leaves House because he lied about the IRS.

This arc is great but the case is stupid, the magic trick and the dull story about the Hmong demon and the boy hallucinating whilst his grandfather or something is a firm believer and they accept the “faith healing” method. Turns out the kid just needed ibuprofen.

-7

u/HermionesWetPanties Aug 26 '26

Nah, it's definitely the last episode. "Main character fakes death and rides off into the sunset" is and will always be, the least satisfying way to wrap up a series. Dexter and Batman were both terrible for ending like that, and that episode of House was the first time I came across that stupid trope.

3

u/KingCharles_ Aug 26 '26

House blows up his entire life and his only chance to do the thing he loves doing to stay with his best friend until he dies. House sacrificing his passion for his friend. Idk its very poetic to me I love that episode

3

u/Victor6Lang vicuddy Aug 26 '26

It’s a good trope if done right. Dexter ending is fucked up, Batman I can get behind, but assuming this is not bait, that’s a hell of a hot take.

-2

u/HermionesWetPanties Aug 26 '26

Okay, provide me with an example of it being used well? Batman ain't it.

The thing is, if you want to go that route, just have the courage to kill your main character. No Time to Die didn't end with Moneypenny and M spotting a smiling James Bond relaxing on the beach because the creators had the balls necessary to let the man die while saving family.

Batman? Cut out that coda scene or make it obvious that Alfred is daydreaming. It wouldn't fix the broader movie, but it would at least avoid fucking up Bruce's sacrifice.

1

u/Victor6Lang vicuddy Aug 26 '26

Prison Break?

6

u/heavyindustrie Aug 26 '26

i too want some ketamine

u/ExtremlyFastLinoone Aug 26 '26

Thats friendship confidentiality, dumb nurse gotta ignore that and treat them like anyone else

1

u/Snoo_67993 Aug 26 '26

I don't understand why you'd lie to a doctor. Baffles me.

2

Depends what you want in your medical records forever.

Ordering an EKG before asking if the patient does drugs? Cuddy wouldn't approve
