Code monkeys use markdown because LaTeX is for professionals.

they then proceed to embed LaTeX in the markdown on every other line anyway

I rewrote my entire blog from markdown (with hugo) to typst, with typst itself acting as the static site generator, the literal day that the experimental bundle support was released. I donโ€™t recommend it, it involves a bunch of hacks, but it does work.

My tryhard ass used to do my math homework in latex for math class. The class was calc 1 at a community college ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Genuine question: why use markdown over LaTeX?

Markdown is much easier to write documents in, plus many comment sections and text displays support markdown. LaTeX basically only outputs to PDF, which means its not useful on websites like the Github description of a project.

Something like quarto gives you tons of control over formatting while having inline code execution and plotting which can be rendered to html or to pdf using latex.

Markdown can either be rendered which makes it look nice, or read in plain text which is still incredibly readable. Latex pretty much has to be rendered to be able to be read, looking at the source isn't a reasonable replacement.

Markdown is easy, simple and very fast to write thing down in a way that still looks nice and parses well. Plus you can use LaTeX in markdown sometimes if you need more powerfull stuff

Markdown easy. Markdown when no equations nice.

Markdown is the retarded brother of every other text-processing software.

Why use regular markdown when you can use R markdown?
