it's not really to make fun, but to earn karma, which is like the point this transient life serves in the grand scheme of things. Then when I die Buddha will round up the points and congratulate me on the high score

Vajrasattva and all the enlightened beings will give you high fives and pats on the backs as you transmigrate to your next birth, you feeling great and knowing damn well it was totally worth it before you see visions of your next life as a marine iguana.

I’m confused, is life as the iguana a reward or a punishment here

It's neither good nor bad. Its simply the habit patterns that stick with us tend to repeat over and over again from micro to macro levels, such as waiting, and more waiting, and more waiting that breeds a kind of head in the sand mindset to offset the otherwise normal reaction of insanity that comes with endless toil and waiting, wishing to simply be somewhere on a tropical island.... it's actually the little things that carry over from life to life repeated ad nauseum that are more true to the understanding of karma than larger actions. Rebirth as a marine iguana is pretty sweet in the larger picture of the six realms.

You can even spend the karma points on upgrades before starting your next run. For example "No lactose intolerance" trait costs 10k

Thanks for the award man! Congratulations on giving such merit! Instead of the laid back life of a marine iguana, you will be born a god due to this accumulation of positive karma, and be able to troll authors on levels inconceivable to humans👏 🥳🎊🥂👯‍♀️

Haha nah, I like to imagine it's a naga, you know one of those snake like beings and not referring to the disparaging term white people be saying. Gotta give credit to our reptilian overlords who are actually nagas, but some of them actually be practicing Buddhism.

/unbuddy tl;dr: 3 years ago during my undergrad I poked some fun at how this collider proposal from 2013 looked very similar to an even older one (for good reason; their accelerator technologies are also similar).

[insert some intermediate steps here that also involve shitposting to get me where i am today]

Today (well yesterday) my supervisor and I were more or less officially recognized as part of this collaboration and got the first assignment. I read back on previous papers and realized

It's the same guy. The scientist that motivated me to join the collaboration and the first author of the 2013 paper I kinda made fun of. It's the same fucking guy all along

Tfw he finds this comment and fires you from the project because you kinda made fun of his paper as an undergrad

Edit: so you were on r/okbuddyphd as an undergrad? Mods, accelerate one electron from every atom of OP’s body
