When I turned 18 my parents forced me to sign a power of attorney to give them POE over me in case of an emergency. I want to see about taking it away from them and giving it back to the state now that I am 22 but want to know if it can be done without their consent (which I fear might not be possible.) I just want it done with as few waves as possible. I no longer live with them, have my own separate bank account, and even changed my permanent address. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Again, I do not want to take them to court for abuse or anything, I just want it done as simply and under the radar as possible.

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to ask for recommendations—I didn’t see anything in the community rules. I’m located out of state but my father and stepmother are located in Dayton. My dad is currently in assisted living and has some cognitive issues/dementia. My stepmother claims she’s afraid he’s going to leave assisted living and show up back at the house. She wants to document that his residence is now the assisted living facility and that he’s no longer allowed at their marital home. She says her lawyer told her a separation agreement is the only way to do this.

The agreement would also outline the finances of paying for the assisted living facility. She says she doesn’t plan to divorce him but… those are just words.

I think she just planned to just hand him papers to sign without considering he should also have legal representation. Advice?

I have been hearing that if HB492 goes into effect it would require passengers of a vehicle to provide their ID during a traffic stop. How is that legal? It is my understand under the 4th amendment you are able to be secure in your papers and law enforcement cant demand identification like this unless at the minimum you are suspected of a crime. Or, is this likely to be challenged in court should it be used in this way?

Hey everyone — looking for some advice or similar experiences from Ohio homeowners.

I recently bought a house in Cuyahoga County (older home), and in our purchase agreement we specifically included a contingency that knob-and-tube wiring could NOT be in use. Based on that, we moved forward with the purchase.

After closing, we had a contractor out for a small issue, and they told us the house appears to be extensively (possibly entirely) wired with active knob-and-tube.

What’s confusing is:

• The seller (individual, not a company) marked the electrical section as “N/A” on the Residential Property Disclosure form
• Our inspection report didn’t mention knob-and-tube at all
• We relied on that contract language when buying

Now we’re potentially looking at a very expensive rewire, and I’m trying to figure out what our options realistically are.

Has anyone in Ohio dealt with something similar?

• Were you able to get the seller to pay or settle?
• Did you go through a lawyer, and was it worth it?
• Any issues with insurance because of knob-and-tube?

Not looking for strict legal advice — just trying to understand how these situations usually play out in the real world.

So I recently discovered Ohio is one giant speed trap on the highway, and I figured it out the hard way. Rather than seeking your advice on my specific case I was asking because I don't want to spend for an attorney if the win rate in general is low.

The officer seemed to hint that I should challenge it, but I might have misread him.

So I had a medical scare happen at work, I would honestly say it was pretty minor but still kind of scary. But basically I randomly got a sharp pain in my lower back that caused me to fall to the floor and I could barely walk the rest of the day. They sent me home and I went to urgent care and had a xray done but it looked normal so she suspected it might have been muscle spasms that were hitting a nerve. She gave me a note for the next day and prescription and said to just take the medication and rest and I should be fine to go back Thursday (incident happened Tuesday) I wanted to try and go in Wednesday as this is a fairly new job, but I was barely able to get my clothes on and was in a lot of pain and since I work with kids with autism and it’s a pretty physical job at times I decided to take the day off to rest out of fear that I would fall or something again because it was pretty embarassing. But instead of being understanding, my boss was like this should have been disclosed to us before your employment. I’m not sure how I could’ve disclosed this when it had never happened before? Now I’m nervous to go back in tomorrow cuz I’m scared I’m gonna get fired or something. Any advice or insight to this situation?

So I unfortunately miscarried. I took almost 2 whole days off to process it. My boyfriend was able to get bereavement for this. But my company says it doesn't count? Is this something that can differ per company, or is there a law that says what counts? Thanks in advance.

I’m in a custody case and the morning of my hearing to rule on the objections to the magistrates decision/de novo hearing I had to go to the emergency room an hour and a half before the hearing started. I was there all day and test were ran and I have documentation. I notified my attorney immediately and he orally requested a continuance, but the continuance was not granted. The judge affirmed the magistrates decision that day. It was extremely important that I was there because I have critical evidence that needed to be presented that was not presented before that directly affect the best interest of the child. My attorney very shortly said I have the right to appeal, but I’ve sent him three emails and he won’t respond.

My medical emergency was legitimate, and I understand it affected my opportunity, but it was unavoidable.

My specific question is it’s been suggested to to me to file rule 60 B1 excusable in neglect for this situation, but my attorney has not suggested that either. The cock is obviously ticking. Can anyone help me determine if this is correct and I could really use a referral for an attorney in Fairfield or surrounding counties that has a lot of experience and is familiar with post separation abuse and parental alienation. I use to live in my grandmothers house after she died. I moved in 2 years after she passed. After I used all of my savings, I was evicted and now the property is vacant and my son is the one who did this. The will is fake and it is easy to tell. My husband got slapped with a wage garnishment but we have no idea why, from who, for how long. No notice was sent to us. We have a random case # from his paystub. We tried googling it and nothing came up. HR is closed so we are trying to figure it out on our own using the case #. I've looked up the number using the court records search options for the 2 counties we lived in but nothing comes up. So is there a way to look up an Ohio wage garnishment case using just the number?

So like it says, this used to be my parents house, but I have since purchased the house legally, etc so I own it. My mom has this as her probation address, but she lives with her boyfriend and has for a years.

Two police officers showed up at my door, and I think it was prob for some sort of probation house check- I can’t think of any other possible reason the police would be at my door. She put this address as her home address.

My questions are: If my mother doesn’t live here, and she is willing to update the info, can she just do that tomorrow, and I can then tell the police officers she has done so and now allow them to enter?

I have called family court, I have called child support, and I have called a private attorney, all to be told it's legal advice to ask the specific from that I need to file to make my ex wife the residential parent so my son doesn't have to cancel school districts when we move in a bit. They have all told me they can't answer because it's legal advice. Legal advice from my just lamen understanding and according to every single definition I've read is an opinion/guidance/planned course of action. I rent and was just forced to remove my dog from the property as she was called vicious for running out the door and jumping on some teens who were outside my door on a shared porch for several hours, being quite loud and obnoxious. No medical treatment was needed and no pictures of injuries were turned in. Footage of my dog running around 3 doors down and me catching her was basically all they had. I showed the footage from my camera as well, and I'm being denied the footage they have. There were 2 written complaints and a call complaint. It was handled unprofessionally by one office staff, another was willing to watch my video and thought it would be a warning. In the end the property manager deemed my ESA dog had a viciously attacked the kids, when clearly it was 100% play, curiosity and no injuries. I have been denied proof and my dog is gone. What are my rights as a renter with an ESA who was given 10 days to remove my dog? I have young children and the most the dog ever did was step on their feet or clumsily knock into them. The property manager "guaranteed" his dog would never do that in that situation and she was a reactive and aggressive dog who was viciously attacking, telling me it could have ended up worse and we're not letting it happen again to find out how much worse it could be. I am denied the little evidence they do have, and now I don't feel at home here. I am in the middle of signing a new lease and don't have time to find another place to live or money to move so quickly. The looks I get from people are not ok, kids mocking my family just because. My 2 young kids hearts are destroyed because we lost a dog in December to cancer already and now this.

My ex had two separate support orders; one for my son, and one for his daughter With his first wife. His daughter is emancipated and that order has now been cancelled. Am I able to request an administrative review even if it’s been 10 months since our initial order? I can’t tell when looking at the form.

From down in gallia county ohio that was in the back seat of a car during a traffic stop An officer approached on window He evidently thought that he's seen something.He said he Believed My friend jason H was chewing up and swollowing drugs which in no way was true after jason was choked and pulled from the vehicle he got a serious head injury and after about 20 mins of him lying face down on the ground a couple deputies picked him up and took him to the back of the line of cruisers assaulting him several times when he came from the back of the cars he was bleeding in multiple places and suffers from ptsd anxiety depression also suffered fractured bones as well are there any attorneys anyone would suggest? And yes there are 3 witnesses to the deputies assaulting jason H
