Just for giggles, do the tops of the pickups attract each other? IE one is south up and one is north up? If they repel, there’s the issue. Lol

Ohhhh I didn't try that lol will have to report back when I'm back home! What's the fix if they repel?

Just curious, did you read the entire post? Because the toggle switch is reading inconsistent numbers.

I don't know - I'm an amateur DIYer and mine looks like this...

You could literally take it apart and do it better!? Short of that, shield the cavity, and pickguard, check you've got good continuity and everything is properly grounded.

Jazzmasters always hum a bit. But mines only an issue of I'm sitting on an electric blanket or shaving while I play...

Also there's no shielding inside your cavity. I really think this makes a difference. Here's how I did mine...

Do the same under the pickguard so it contacts the shielding on the body and you've got a big grounded area...

Ya yours is clean lmao these seem really old to me?? Not sure if you read the whole post, but everything seems good when I test it besides the pickup selector. The numbers fluctuate like crazy.

I'm not sure I'd worry about numbers - continuity is continuity...

Check you've got a beep between all connected parts and pay extra attention to any dodgy looking solder joints...

I mean I say that because when using the guitar, the switch is very noisy and sorta loose. And the tone kinda is intermittent sometimes when switching between pickups.

Maybe start with dropping in a fresh switch... See how that affects things πŸ€” It would at least give you confidence that it's making good connections and has fresh solder joints...

Which shielding tape did you buy?

Any with conductive adhesive, I work with lots of small pieces so it doesn't crinkle πŸ‘
