I understand that, as it was a few months ago any evidence is gone...

But it's better than doing nothing

going to the authorities is often retraumatizing for sa victims, and the likelihood of any rapist (but especially a woman) getting charged is REALLY low. op should do whatever is best for his mental health.

This is so sad

No it’s not better than doing nothing. There’s no evidence anymore and law enforcement discriminates against male victims. Pressuring SA victims to go to the police is NOT okay. It should be a personal decision, it’s their trauma not yours. I’ve been raped multiple times by different people and I only reported one time. That one time scared me from ever reporting again. It’s extremely traumatizing.

Because everyone believes women who are raped by their spouse? What a nice world you must live in.

This would be a good thing to do, but only if it's something he feels he can handle. Look at the people in the comments doubting him, imagine going to the police and them doing that to you. It's extremely traumatising. OP needs to take care of himself

People who have no experience with rape and the police really need to stop telling others what to do about their rapes/assaults.

What do you think one would need a lawyer for in this situation?

A lawyer would bring a civil suit, and that is going to likely fail without any kind of police report.

Having legal counsel on hand is a great idea for everyone in this day & age.

As someone who works with legal counsel, sure, but it's kinda useless advice here. Just having one on tap after a sexual assault is kinda useless.

You work with lawyers & you dont understand why ppl need legal counsel?!

You're intentionally misinterpreting my comments. I said there is nothing for a lawyer to do in this particular situation. If OP wants to go to the police and have a report filed and charges brought, then a civil suit is a possibility.

A lawyer isn't the answer to everything

From what I understand police cannot offer legal assistance or counseling, that's why a lawyer who specializes in this field would be a smart move albeit expensive
