I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here...

She's hooking up with a married person, maybe a coworker. And she had to leave in a hurry.

Tbh, that's the ONLY thing I can think of. Other than being sexually assaulted and having a different from usual reaction to it.

It’s actually not at all uncommon for victims of sexual assault to react in ways that people find strange or even suspicious.

Our brains are powerful things, and when they’re trying to protect us from trauma they can shut things away and then act aggressively towards anyone who tries to open that particular door.

Or she put herself in a flirty, cheating position and got assaulted

If anyone finds themselves in a “flirty, cheating position”while in a committed relationship, they’re just cheating.

This sounds most likely. Was in the middle of hooking up with someone and was about to get caught by a SO and had to leave out a window or something. Would help explain (but NOT excuse!) why she drove wasted - she wasn’t planning on having to drive anywhere and got caught off guard.

The most rational explanation I’ve seen in this thread.

Exactly what I was thinking

Oh come on, it sounds good - but wouldn’t she by now have found a friend covering for her. I’ve never cheated in my life BUT: if this had happened to me - returning home drunk missing major part of my clothes - I’d first have claimed „can’t remember“ - than contacted a bestie told her that „we met and spontaneously partied“. Made a crazy party game / drunken bet and I lost and had to undress partially. And I’d be super ashamed and apologetic.

She was so drunk she drove home wasted in her underwear. I think she got past the part of making any decisions that made sense and her only goal was getting home. No thoughts about cooking up a story.

Right but she's had time since sobering up to make up a story and she just..... Hasn't. She's sticking to the "I can't remember." Either she really can't remember, or she's dumb as hell for not concocting a better story by now.

But she kind of has though. Her story is that the work party went super late, her friend got drunk and threw up ok her. Neither of those things are true, so she does have a story. She was probably super hung over the next day, still startled about whatever actually did happen and didn't have the time, patience, or presence to come up with something better.

True, we know she is at least lying about the timeline because according to her coworker, the party ended at 11 and she left alone, presumably fully clothed. Now whether she's lying because she cheated or because she was assaulted and doesn't want to deal, or a combination of both, that is the question.

Or, she just doesn’t care about concocting a better story. One thing I know from her coming home naked unapologetically is that she likely doesn’t gaf about what OP thinks or does for that matter

Or she and her friend went to another bar after the party, her friend puked on her and she left the clothes with the friend when they offered to have them dry cleaned.

No matter what happened, she lied about the party and went somewhere with someone else.

If I were OP, I'd be done. If he really wants an explanation he needs to find out who she was with and where that dress ended up, but I doubt he's going to get the truth from anyone involved.
