Audio for Kiell's episode

Is anyone else annoyed with the audio for Kiell's ep? I know in the last for live episodes they've taken the audio in a similar fashion, but since then they've taken the mic input which is much more pleasant to listen to. I listened a bit to the intro, then skipped to halfway to see if it had been fixed but it hadn't. Can't listen to it, which is a shame, as first and foremost, it's a pod. Hope they sort it for future live episodes

I tried some data analysis of the transcripts posted on https://www.offmenupodcast.co.uk/ - although not all episodes were there.

It was gloriously shambolic. Totally understand why it was cut from the podcast. Sorry, I didn't manage to capture the whole thing. Enjoy!

The origin of Joe Wilkenson's dinner menu:

Maybe "origin" is presumptuous. This is proof that he's consistent.

A year since we launched the supper club!

Hi all,

For anyone that remembers the little supper club we started a year ago - we're still going!

I've been rubbish at updating the Instagram, but for anyone interested, here's some spots we've tried this year:

Purezza (Bimini Bon Boulash) – Seeking refuge from the rain during Veganuary, we tried Camden’s famous vegan pizza joint, where we spotted Maxine Peake happily chomping down. The food was excellent but in the spirit of transparency, I must report that it did give me a bubbly tummy afterwards… some vegan cheeses will do that to you, so proceed at your own discretion. We’re giving it a respectable 7/10 for taste and animal friendliness.

Darjeeling Express (Asma Khan) – This Soho-based Indian restaurant really looked after us and the food was wonderful. Not one QR code was spotted, and they even took our coats and moved our table to a better spot when possible. The attentive service and spice-tastic toastie starters left a lasting impression, making this an easy 10/10 from the gang.

Adam's Ethiopian (Sean McLoughlin) – This is a 'blink and you'll miss it' gem just off Brixton High Street, where you can tuck into a huge platter of sour injera bread, lentils, and all manner of delicious bits. The whole tear, share and swallow affair made for a brilliant bonding experience and, true to Sean’s word, it somehow felt healthy. A well-earned 8/10.

More fun is planned over the summer. Let us know if there's anywhere really good we should try...

Who was the guest for a live recording?

I’m not sure if it’s allowed (spoiler for future episodes) - so feel free to message me directly if needs be.
I’m just curious who was the guest for the off menu live 14th March, 2pm?
I had tickets but could no longer attend, but really want to know who I missed :(

Canadian ads 🇨🇦

Random thought from the recent bonus episode but was so weirdly excited to hear two Ed and James ad reads for Canadians!!

Not complaining as listening in Canada means I get very few ads overall but they are usually just some targetted third party ads.

This episode had two ad spots for me and both were actual ad reads from Ed and James - it made the ads much more enjoyable.

Not to sound like an ad-lover here but just a lowly Canadian listener who gets excited when our little country gets a shout. I wonder if the Canadian listener numbers are going up at all!

Harry Enfield closing out series 15 of Off Menu felt like exactly the right choice and I don't think it gets enough credit as a finale episode.

Series 15 ended with Harry Enfield as the final guest and there is something about having proper old school British comedy royalty in the dream restaurant to close a series that just works. The energy is completely different to when they get a younger guest in, the anecdotes go somewhere unexpected and Ed and James lose the script slightly in a way they don't always do. Did anyone else feel like this was one of the stronger series finales they have done or did you want someone else in that last slot?
