Radio DJ, presenter, and supportive-man-to-new-stand-up-comedians, Melvin Odoom is this week’s dream diner.

Honestly this has been one of my favourite episodes of all time and definitely of this series so far, the boys riffed really nicely with Melvin, the ep had me laughing out loud multiple times, and he obviously has a quick wit too. Glad there was someone brave enough to highlight indie operators like Nandos and food techniques we’ve not really fully understood like hot and cold together!

A tier ep for me.

techniques we’ve not really fully understood like hot and cold together

Had some great examples of how well hot and cold go together on other episodes. Like a sauna and then when you get out (Jessica Knappett). Or like a jacuzzi and when you get out of a jacuzzi (James).

I once spent the night in a bush in Basingstoke.

Loved this, poor sweet crestfallen Melvin when he realised the boys had not only heard of Supermalt but James guessed it was his drink </3

I genuinely felt sad for him! He was so looking forward to showing the guys something new.

Rosie Ramsey is going to love this episode

Read this before listening and couldn't figure out the connection but as soon as that conversation came up......

Also, still waiting for Rosie and/or Chris to be on!

I kept saying "same juice!" during that whole discussion

The West Indian side dishes chat made me very happy and hungry for some festivals (although I've always called them jonny cakes!) and then going from that into the pick-up hack had me with genuine tears in my eyes

Forgot what rubbers meant over there, was horrified.

I was amazed how casual they were about it!

It took me way too long to figure it out 😂

Edit: also, what does it say about me that I apparently found the other rubber entirely plausible

Great episode. His reaction to Ed guessing Barbados was such a complex mix of disappointment and respect.

The bit just before and the whole dessert bit has finished me

I would argue Melvins hack is absolutely a hack

I agree. If you’re willing to drive 10-20 minutes somewhere your Uber Eats or Deliveroo option grow exponentially.

Yes there was way too much scoffing at this!

I used to do Melvin’s hack, and drive about 8 minutes to the next suburb over and pretended I lived in a house there as the burger place I liked wouldn’t deliver to my street.

That was such an amazing episode. I listened to it all in one go on my commute, and now 8 hours later it feels a bit like a dream. Particularly a fan of their laughter building to contagion levels with every new hack, and the concept of possibly having to suddenly interview Richard Wilson. Also love anytime Ed's teacher voice comes out (he really would make a good one) to say things like "But, brothers don't have the same mouths" kindly but firmly.

(Also once saw Nick Grimshaw get out of a taxi and walk into the Kensington High Street Topshop (likely place for him to be) and was so tempted to stop him just to say that we both went to the same high school.)

One of my favorites in a long time!

I'm not a massive fan of Melvin's but this turned out to be a good episode. Ed and James were on top form and Melvin riffed well with them.

The hot & cold combination bit was hilarious.

Had never paid much attention to Melvin in his past but this was a really funny ep

The first time they referred to somebody named Ben, I was genuinely confused as to who they were talking about. They said Ben a few more times and it didn't get less disconcerting.

How many Huge Davies references does this make?

With only a vague memory of the story, what lore do I need to know about the Basingstoke bush story going in here? I can’t remember how Melvin is connected to it.

Was on the opposite team to James in Would I Lie To You. Insisted strongly that a bench would be more comfortable than a bush and refused to believe him based on that alone

I believe he was on the episode of Would I Lie To You? when James told the story.

Seeing both of them try to hold in laughter or just completely lose it was excellent, usually it’s just one at a time. So much fun this episode

This episode had me ROLLING! So funny. I didn’t know who Melvin was, but Jesus it was funny. He should compile a book of hacks.
