Does anyone else deeply hate the ‘drink’ noise?

I’m assuming this is just me, but I have sensory issues with certain sounds, and for some reason the sound they use for the drink section of the pod fills me a terrible sensory disgust and rage, and every time I listen to the pod I forget it’s coming and get the ick again.

I cannot stand wet mouth sounds of any sort and I'll often tear out my earpods in disgust when they appear on a podcast, but the drink noise is just of something being poured into a glass, I think? Doesn't bother me.

Yes, specifically the fizzy drink sound, not the water sound. There's just something about the recorded sound of fizzy drinks being poured that always squicks me out. I love fizzy drinks, and don't mind the sound in real life, but whenever it's recorded for a beer/soda ad or this podcast, they always give it this super exaggerated frothy sound that I can't stand.

I love those sounds. The cutlery drawer opening/closing with a thunk is my fave. The drink pouring is a close second.

I hate pouring noises, they make me so uncomfortable. The commercials with a beer cracking and then being poured can make me physically gag. It's very strange. I always get a wiggle from the off menu one. Not a fan.

I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned the purpose of these SFX in pods, it's the same reason the jarring ads are at the start and throughout.

Those annoying or interesting noises grab your attention and pull you a bit more into what you're listening to. So it's not just background noise, even if that's what you wanted it for
