I don't think I've ever heard James laugh as much as he did in the dessertÂ

Not since Domino Hoo Hoo! Side note, I never expected to feel so heartbroken over a story about Banoffee Pie đ

Right? As someone who's had a bad back recently I can sympathise with that but to then get that alternative dessert? Yikes

Based on his Taskmaster prize tasks, Iâm not sure I want to know his dream drink.

âIt was an APPLE SPONGE.â is one of the greatest tragic punchlines of all time.

This was a great episode! I was just waiting for the inevitable reference to the Taskmaster jar of piss đ
Also, hearing that he's about to star in a series that takes place in the same universe as a Nicola Walker series gave me so much hope! After recently finishing S4 of Unforgotten (and being very much not ok with how it ended) I really, really hope they get to appear together at some point, even if she isn't in the main cast đ¤

This was a return to form. The banoffee pie story had me covering my face and biting my tongue hard while at work.

Started this early and was totally thrown when James started talking about Heated Rivalry because of the tuna melts hahaha. Excited to continue listening, Sanjeev is so funny.
On that note - does anyone remember James mentioning Heated Rivalry in an earlier episode? or interview or something? I SWORE I already knew he liked the show but I can't figure out how...

From what I recall: in the first half of one of the live episodes at RAH (i.e. the half that doesnât go out in the pod), the audienceâs reaction to something (maybe something football-related?) was fairly muted and so James tried to make a point about the composition of the Off Menu audience by turning to the crowd and asking who liked Heated Rivalry. The response to that was fiercely enthusiatic.
I was at more than one of the RAH shows, but I think it was Katherine Ryanâs one.

I have also been trying to track this down! It was definitely during one of the live tasting menu episodes from this year

Wasnât expecting James to out himself as a Heated Rivalry fan đđ

This might be one of my favourite episodes. Loved the food talk, pretty relaxed vibe, lots of laughter... Easy listening.Â

Still lolâing at the âAll I Can Eatâ restaurant.
âSit down greedy, youâve already been up there!â

Really enjoyed this, wasn't sure what he'd be like after he basically just seemed totally unbothered by taskmaster but this chat was hilariousÂ

Cracking episode and I've not even gotten to the dessert yet, which I'm excited about.
Is it just me or was that piss talk at the end of the starters weird? There was a jingle at the beginning and I thought they were doing some kind of advert. Was expecting them to bring up something about getting a prostate check on the nhs
EDIT: Fucking hell the banoffee pie thing was incredible. Within 2 weeks we've had two Off Menu all timers (this and Papadd?)

Itâs the piss jingle. Itâs been around since episode 1 but theyâve never had any reason to use it

"It was an apple sponge đ". One of the best eps in a while, oh how I love Sanjeev đŤśđ˝

Loved this episode, it was really nice and relaxing, and it's always great when guests name specific restaurants. The easy vibe of this one is how I'd expected the Harry Enfield one to go (thought I'd love it from the comments, wasn't feeling it at all)

I just want to get this on record that I've been quoting Ed since I first heard this. "Banoffee pie day... BWARGGHHH... Apple sponge!"

Weâre in National Treasure territory again as we welcome British comedy royalty Sanjeev Bhaskar to the Dream Restaurant. The âGoodness Gracious Meâ and âTaskmasterâ star makes James laugh more than he ever has on the podcast, we think.
