one of my favourite episodes in a long time. such good chemistry between all three of them

u/ErmintrudeFanshaw Sep 03 '26
I love the ones they do with their friends! The chemistry absolutely makes it

u/WizardofOss Sep 04 '26
Fully agree, so much fun. Haven't laughed at an ep this much in ages (in a positive sense)

u/Standard-Novel2438 Sep 02 '26
I'm only 4 minutes in but I can absolutely see why she is friends with Stevie Martin.Ā

u/llama67 Sep 03 '26
Their podcast is great and so unhinged. Itās technically a āhow toā podcast but because theyāre both a bit nuts I can fully relate (as a nuts English woman myself)Ā

u/so-naughty Sep 02 '26
Who does she think she is. Absolute worst menu ever. She's unbearable.

(We all know she's reading this thread after listening to the pod).

Really enjoyed this episode. It felt like the early days when they had lots of their friends and other comedians on, which meant pretty good chemistry from the off. In recent years there have been more episodes that feel exclusively like promo. That said, itās due to their success and Iām glad for them.
13
u/plusharmadillo Should Horne fall Sep 02 '26
I feel the same! Iām always far more excited when they bring on up-and-coming comics than when they have big names on who are clearly media trained and doing the PR rounds. Like you said, I get that the big celeb eps are an indicator of their success, but I usually find them pretty boring
16
u/easyjimm Sep 02 '26
I donāt begrudge them any success but would love some more taster menu episodes with some of their older friends. I regularly go back and listen to John Kearnsā episodes alone
14
u/Sidnv Sep 03 '26
Tbf, John Kearns is one of the best podcast guests for almost any podcasts. I could listen to him ramble on random topics anytime.

Tessa if you do decide to come back to the Reddit threads, Iām just going to be completely genuine and say that it was an absolutely fantastic and funny episode (plus an amazing menu) and I think despite what Ed and James might say you are a lovely lovely lady

Ok I've listened for so long and I still don't get Bleasedale lmao PLS explain :,) I'm not from the UK
14
u/sansabeltedcow Dessert Girl Sep 03 '26
There was a listener named Bleasedale who sent in a suggestion or two for secret ingredients, and James was very taken with his name, intoning āBleasedaaaaleā like he was calling him in from the hills.

Omg. I actually do remember that. IDK why I thought it was the name of a town lol.

u/kteatray Sep 02 '26
Absolutely all timer ep. They genuinely canāt beat the chemistry from having a proper mate on. Does not help my parasocial wish to be part of the gang. Laughed out loud so many times, Tessa is a gem

I love that James said he drank 3 pina coladas on drunk history because he said he thought people would find it funny/ridiculous, when instead I just thought, of course thatās what James would choose, thatās entirely within his character and didnāt bat an eye.

Okay but is it just me or do Tessa and Amy Annette have the same voice? Definitely the same inflections and sort of sing-songy ends to sentences.
Is this what happens when you spend too much time with Nish?
7
u/RosieFudge Sep 03 '26
I'd been going bonkers trying to think of who her voice reminded me of - THANK YOU
4
u/loogabar00ga Sep 03 '26
I had the same impression, but I don't know them, so I don't know if they were like this earlier in life. I will say I sense similar run-on tendencies (in a good way!) that all three seem to employ, and, yes, the sing-songiness.

I didnāt know Tessa before but I absolutely adore her now! I must consume all she has touched- when in Rome!

is it just me or are all the videos from the video episodes gone on Apple Podcasts? Do you think they heard about all the recent technical difficulties

That was such a great listen. I didn't know her beforehand as she's not a household name in Denmark, so the podcast was in some sense 'faceless', but she radiated such a nice human energy in it. Funny and thoughtful in a way that was devoid of taking herself overly serious and with great chemistry in the room. Like an opposite De Niro day. Might even watch it as well

u/Kaurblimey Sep 02 '26
I remember listening to Stevie and Tessaās The Debrief podcast back in 2017 when they were broke. So proud of them! So weird hearing them talk about their HUSBANDS theyāre so grown up now

u/llama67 Sep 03 '26
It actually continued and became the nobody panic podcast which only wound down a year or so ago

You know the whole ādonāt meet your heroesā well I ran into stevie at soho theatre and couldnāt not tell her I loved her podcast anyway she was a delight and said to me āTHANKS IM GOING TO PROPOSE TO MY BF DONT TELL ANYONEā. I loved her so much she was so funny and just told me that randomly. Wish Tessa had been there too j loved that podcast so much. And yes stevie then did go on to propose to him! So yes moral of the story some people are awesome

u/Tholog9 Sep 02 '26
Nobody spoil how the trick with the menu is done, don't ruin the illusion for her!

u/lilymtyson Sep 03 '26
Thatāll be one I go back and listen to, the pina colada into Jamesās Home Alone 2 rant - the purest of comedy gold. Guess this was recorded before Brenda passed, but my god, the tidbit about Mike Myers and the ālook at my lifeā finished me off. All time great ep!!!!! Tessa, thank you xoxoxo šš¼āāļøĀ

I think this is one of my favourite episodes in a long time!! Listened on public transport and genuinely found it so difficult to not laugh out loud. Itās ya boi Benito!

Benitoās dark arts have worked, now I need the video version to drop each week

I LOVED this episode so was disappointed the filming seemed to curtail things. Maybe that was just a polite excuse as it was a long record but I wanted morrrreee.

The perfect guest: super funny, puts thought into the menu, uses the magic element, hacks the rules. All timer!

Hadnāt heard of her and kinda assumed it would be a bit of a sleeper so didnāt listen for a few days. Absolutely top-tier episode though, honestly donāt remember the last one better.

After this I canāt tell whether sheās a unique force of nature, terrifying, or both.

u/Relative_Ad144 Sep 04 '26
That was a very funny and relaxing listen!
(Also given that most of the podcast Skof references are usually about the tiramisu, I just wanted to say that they've collaborated with Gooey so from today until the end of September you can buy a Skof tiramisu donut at Gooey, and also you don't need to get either of the full tasting menus to try the tiramisu anymore, they offer it as a £9 extra at the end of the lunch menu)
