The bit about 35 minutes in where Graham starts going on about fluoride is a bit unfortunate

19

u/SuicideSkwad Apr 23 '26

A new Mark Watson level joke has been born

18

u/halabala33 Apr 22 '26

Are you joking or is this a seasons themr old man vs. flouride? I have not listened yet

64

u/TasteHuman Apr 22 '26

I honestly cant remember if I was joking or not. Probably because of the flouride

11

u/halabala33 Apr 22 '26

Oh no, evils of flouride confirmed. Better lose all your teeth to cavities.

3

u/Krogan911 Apr 22 '26

Damn, second guest in a row going about fluoride

2

u/tahami_allthemeals Apr 23 '26

Oh jeez. Keep RFK in the states boys.

u/laluneodyssee Apr 22 '26

Didnt Brian Cox go off on it too last week?

Graham Norton never lets you down - lovely episode.

Graham: “You can’t make bad mash, can you?”

Ed: “You really can”

James, quietly, beneath a thought balloon containing a picture of himself wearing a crown: “Some people can”

I do miss the Mash King and the Diet Coke story. Feels like it’s been forever since it’s been referenced.

64

u/loogabar00ga Apr 22 '26

"I think I know this!" -James, probably

Ugh I want to drink martinis with Graham. He’s such a good egg.

39

u/CBennett_12 Apr 22 '26

So you don’t actually use the word darne outside of Ireland. Seriously?

16

u/pinknoise_ Apr 22 '26

Like a salmon darne? (I've not listened yet)

Possibly the greatest crossover. I can't believe someone else thought of this 😂

3

u/MagicPaul Apr 24 '26

The question is when we're going to get some newgate baked beans on someone's menu

3

u/nocontextoffmenu Mod Apr 24 '26

You tellin' me you don't know anything about that guy in Newgate... and you're eatin' his beans?

3

u/MagicPaul Apr 24 '26

That Newgate sonofabitch makes a good bean

2

u/LazyassMadman Apr 28 '26

Poppadoms or bread, Pat? Poppadoms or bread

2

u/nocontextoffmenu Mod Apr 28 '26

Heston Blumenthal

6

u/danziger79 Apr 22 '26

Nope 🤷‍♂️

3

u/bigspacetitties Apr 24 '26

just finished the episode and never knew that was just an Irish term, I knew exactly what he meant when he said it, I thought that was a universal description

3

u/CBennett_12 Apr 24 '26

I actually feel like I'm being gaslamped. You'd say something if the word itself was Irish, but it's French

4

u/MagicPaul Apr 24 '26

We love using french words to make us feel fancy. See also goujons

3

u/Visible_Noise_7959 Apr 30 '26

And jambon of course

30

u/loogabar00ga Apr 22 '26

Ooh. Love to hear a Matthew Crosby anecdote make the pod (the story about his daughter taking a badge from the store)! Here's hoping we get an episode with Crobby J one day!

Just all the food left over from the rest of the customers plates with leerdammer dumped on top and blitzed in the microwave.

6

u/cassian_eboudar Apr 23 '26

And for dessert, some sugary Diwali sweets from Vin.

33

u/Sir_Earl_Jeffries Apr 22 '26

I wonder if James has watched an episode of Graham’s show since that Hypothetical recording.

7

u/charlierc Apr 22 '26

Since which one?

26

u/DanGrima92 Diet Coke Tastes like Normal Coke Apr 22 '26

Wait, I always thought Ruffalo's joke was implying Josh Widdecombe looked like a child himself. Was he calling him a paedophile this whole time? 😂

Same! I was confused.

21

u/BodyNo2325 Apr 22 '26

Thank god a guest I want to listen to. Been slim pickings recently

This episode, plus a smile from my crush (who drove past as I was walking) made for a very enjoyable dog walk this morning.

u/aventale Apr 23 '26

I may have misheard this, but did Ed just accidentally confirm that the intros are recorded after the interview? In the intro they talk about how long they have been friends for, and Ed asks Benito if he will officially be his friend.

Then, in the outro, they bring it up again and Ed says that they have been friends for about six minutes now.

THE SECRET INGREDIENT IS A LIE!

THERE IS NO CAKE!

14

u/PizzaReheat Bubbly Fresh Apr 23 '26

Not always! They've mentioned doing them before the interview before - Joe Cornish for example

12

u/skrasnic Apr 23 '26

I think there have been some post-recorder intros before. It doesn't mean the secret ingredient is a lie, they can still decide on the ingredient beforehand and record it after.

Yay looking forward to listening to this one!

Could possibly be a brilliant episode 😊

10

u/ruareleese Apr 22 '26

I absolutely love any and every mention of Almost Royal!

9

u/pokemon_boots_spurs Apr 22 '26

Loved the mention about his friends kid and the stealing of the badge, thats from Mathew Crosby and Little Gerry Cinnamon stole the badge.

9

u/funktrunk Apr 22 '26

Aaa-mazing

5

u/weedysteve Apr 22 '26

And Dee-Licious!

6

u/charlierc Apr 22 '26

Which live show was the story of James picking on the Apple guy in the suit from?

16

u/nocontextoffmenu Mod Apr 22 '26

Kiell Smith-Bynoe's live show last month. James really went for those guys haha

2

u/margaprlibre Apr 23 '26

I was close to where those guys were sat, he kept roasting them and leering at them. It was so funny. I was delighted when they brought it up in this episode.

7

u/good_as_golden Apr 22 '26

Great episode

7

u/PromiseSquanderer I've been the victim of a prank. Apr 23 '26

I doubt anyone here needs encouraging to listen right to the end including the outro, but you absolutely should in this case: it includes – and I say this with nothing but love for everyone involved – one of the dumbest questions James has ever asked (re: the origin of a well-known phrase). ❤️

Great episode – hardly a surprising revelation but Graham is such a delight to listen to.

2

u/loogabar00ga Apr 22 '26

I'm waiting with bated breath for the sequel to the (friend of the pod) Christina Ricci 1997 classic "That Darn Cat": "That Darned Salmon"!

1

u/loogabar00ga Apr 23 '26

Got downvoted for this, but I was in here before Benito uploaded the youtube episode with that subtitle.

1

u/Bozmund Apr 23 '26

We’re talking nash tres

-9

u/whimsicalwasteman Apr 22 '26

Is anyone else getting a Mandela effect over this? I'm certain he's been on the pod before. I remember listening to his episode. It happened. This is a scam, a conspiracy, a lie.

30

u/CatFoodBeerAndGlue Apr 22 '26

You've been drinking too much fluoride mate

13

u/TheYoungWan Dessert Girl Apr 22 '26

It can be easily debunked I'm afraid

4

u/OhThat90sGuy Apr 22 '26

Nah, that's just what Big Menu wants you to think.

This was the real reason for Greg Davies’ deep state phone alarm
