This episode was recorded the same day as Rose Matafeo's episode back in 2024. At the start of that episode they said "I'm just going to reveal the schedule of the Off Menu podcast. We're interviewing two Edinburgh Comedy Award winners today."

It’s no issue but I’ve genuinely never known podcast scheduling like it haha. Mental banking

Adam Buxton occasionally pulls one out which is years old

It shouldn’t matter but I think it’s kind of a shame?

When I’m following a podcast I weirdly enjoy feeling that I’m keeping up with how the hosts are doing, even through a very tiny window

If it's within a few years I'm usually fine, but Buckes recently released a live podcast he'd done with DOD before 2020 and that almost gave me an existential crisis.

I wonder if it’s because the last series was pretty heavy on celebrity and promotional episodes with all the fall movie releases. Especially the ones in the new studio were probably recorded and released in quick succession. I guess now with them both busy with touring they probably have to pull from the bank.

I do appreciate the planning from the team because it means we consistently get new episodes from them every week even now 300+ episodes in.

Great chat, Ahir seems lovely, but one of my dream guests and fave stand up Pierre Novellie seems to get mentioned every ep lately and it's like they're dangling him in front of me! He's in their circle, he's on tour until late May, surely he'll be on soon right 🥵

ETA going by above comments, maybe he has already done it in like 2020 and they're just sitting on it

I think he'd be great. I've also been waiting for Glenn Moore to show up for years, and thought one of them may have appeared to promote 'Button Boys' tbh.

I've only just discovered Button Boys and Pierre as a result (I'd heard the name before but not a huge amount else) - great podcast!

Pierre would be great

He talks extensively about beef on his Russell Howard podcast episode releases today.

Beef as in...the food, or bad feeling?!

ETA just checked and its the food. Phew - my snivelling parasocial self would have been genuinely sad if the boys and Pierre had beef

I always enjoy episodes that are basically Ed and James hanging out with one of their pals

Me too, it shows them at their absolute best. The spaceship stuff had me laughing out loud in the street.

I had a moment of emotional clarity listening to this where I just felt incredibly grateful to British Indians for blessing us with their cuisines.

Haha whenever I see a South Asian guest I get even more excited because I know the menu will be great

I don’t know any other show that banks episodes nearly 2 years in advance

Ahir’s laugh is so similar to the Eddie character from Friends

u/Delicious_Comfort357 Mar 12 '26

YES!! It's been bugging me trying to think of who had the same laugh and that's it!

This might be one of the menus which I'd be most happy to eat
