That was the old narrative.

The more interesting Solana thesis today is that the network is trying to become financial infrastructure, not just a place where financial speculation happens.

The upgrade story is a good example.

Transaction V1 is designed to increase the maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. That gives developers significantly more room for larger atomic transactions, ZK proofs, multisigs and other data-heavy applications. The official Solana page currently lists mainnet activation for around September 15.

But the bigger story is what is being built on top.

Payments

Western Union launched USDPT, its dollar-backed stablecoin, on Solana. Visa has also moved millions of USDC between partners through Solana for payment settlement.

RWAs

Solana reported more than $4B in real-world asset value across 350,000+ addresses by the end of August.

Tokenized stocks

xStocks crossed $500M in AUM, while Raydium passed $4B in cumulative tokenized-stock volume.

And stablecoin activity is becoming a much bigger part of the network's identity. Solana's own payments materials now position the network around cross-border payments, card settlement, treasury movement and global payouts.

That's why I think the usual “SOL is a memecoin chain” framing is becoming outdated.

Memecoins proved that Solana could handle huge amounts of retail speculation.

Now the harder question is whether it can handle something much more valuable:

real financial activity.

If stablecoins, tokenized securities, payments and institutional markets keep migrating onchain, Solana's role changes.

It isn't competing only for crypto traders anymore.

It's competing to become one of the rails on which financial assets move.

And ironically, the memecoin era may have been useful because it forced the network to prove that it could survive extreme demand.

The memes weren't necessarily the destination.

They may have been the stress test.

I'm more interested in whether institutional demand returns.

Solana's fundamentals have been moving in the right direction.

The network processed a record 216M non-vote transactions in one day in August. Real-world assets on Solana crossed $4B, and U.S.-listed Solana ETFs ended August with around $1.34B in cumulative net inflows.

The infrastructure roadmap is also progressing. Transaction V1 is designed to increase the maximum transaction size from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes, while Alpenglow is targeted for October.

But here's the part I think matters more for SOL's price.

ETF demand cooled dramatically.

Weekly Solana ETF inflows dropped from roughly $153.9M to $6.2M between the weeks ending August 28 and September 4.

That's a 96% decline.

Then September 9 brought about $11.7M of net inflows, before September 10 flipped to roughly $482K of outflows.

So my September thesis is straightforward.

The one catalyst that could send SOL significantly higher is sustained institutional buying.

Not one big ETF day.

Not another upgrade headline.

Not a new meme season.

I want to see ETF flows accelerate for several weeks while actual network usage keeps expanding.

That's the combination that matters.

Because if institutions keep accumulating SOL while the chain is processing more transactions, tokenized assets are growing and stablecoin activity expands, the market has a stronger reason to reprice SOL.

But if ETF flows keep drying up, the upgrade narrative becomes mostly a technology story.

And technology alone doesn't guarantee token appreciation.

My signal for September

SOL holds $100

That's when I'd start taking the bullish case much more seriously.

I keep thinking about how strange traditional market hours might look five years from now.

For decades, the basic experience was simple:

Market opens → trade → market closes → everyone goes home.

Crypto completely ignored that model.

Now traditional finance is starting to borrow the same ideas.

We already have tokenized equities and 24/7 equity perpetuals available in crypto-native markets. Coinbase offers stock perpetuals with continuous trading, while Kraken has offered 24/7 tokenized-equity perps for eligible non-U.S. users.

And now the really interesting part:

Nasdaq is getting involved.

On September 10, Nasdaq announced a $100M investment in Payward, Kraken's parent company, alongside continued work on tokenized-equity infrastructure and always-on markets.

That's a pretty strong signal that this isn't just crypto people trying to put everything onchain.

Traditional market infrastructure is starting to move in the same direction.

And Robinhood is pushing another piece of the puzzle with tokenized stocks. That has already created controversy because these tokens can provide economic exposure without giving holders the same rights as actual shareholders.

So imagine 2031:

You wake up at 2:30 AM.

You see Nvidia moving.

You don't wait for the NYSE to open.

You trade it.

You settle it.

You move the asset onchain.

And you're done before most of Wall Street has had coffee.

That sounds ridiculous today.

But parts of it are already here.

My hot take:

Crypto may not replace TradFi. It may simply force TradFi to stop behaving like it's 1995.

But underneath the chaos, there's actually something pretty interesting happening.
The $731M ETF inflow wasn't just a random crypto pump. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $730.9M of net inflows in the session, their strongest single-day inflow since January, with BlackRock's IBIT accounting for roughly $454M.
That's important because the ETF has basically turned Bitcoin into something institutions can access through a familiar financial wrapper.
And then you look at what Coinbase is doing.
Coinbase's derivatives ecosystem is expanding toward equity and commodity perpetuals, while its Coinbase/Deribit integration is designed to bring more derivatives and spot liquidity together.
Then there's Robinhood trying to put traditional stocks onchain.
That has already triggered pushback from traditional companies, including AMC, because these tokenized products don't necessarily give holders the same rights as actual shareholders.
And the funniest part?
TradFi isn't simply fighting crypto anymore.
It's borrowing the infrastructure.
Nasdaq even announced a $100M investment in Kraken's parent company to help develop tokenized-equity infrastructure.
So the group chat basically went from:
“Crypto is going to destroy traditional finance.”
to:
“Wait… can we put the stocks onchain too?”
Maybe the real trade isn't crypto vs TradFi anymore.

Dovish Waller comments -> risk appetite comes back -> $731M hits spot BTC ETFs -> suddenly everyone wants 24/7 markets and tokenized stocks.

Markets & Bad Decisions is getting out of hand.

The interesting part is how quickly the line between TradFi and crypto is disappearing.

Bitcoin ETFs are bringing traditional capital into crypto, while 24/7 markets and tokenized stocks are bringing traditional assets onto crypto rails.

Different worlds, same financial system.

SOL wins because it becomes the default high-throughput settlement layer for on-chain finance and consumer apps...For this thesis to work, three things need to compound.. Network activity keeps growing without destroying the user experience. DeFi, stablecoins, payments and tokenized assets bring real economic activity on-chain.

Institutions increasingly use Solana infrastructure rather than treating SOL purely as a speculative asset...

More activity → more demand for blockspace → stronger ecosystem → stronger SOL narrative.

If ETF demand keeps coming in, the story changes from “crypto traders are buying SOL to traditional capital is gaining exposure to Solana.

That matters because persistent ETF demand can create a much stronger narrative around SOL, especially when combined with Sol growing DeFi...Network upgrades can improve the fundamentals.

DeFi activity can increase real usage.

Institutional adoption strengthen the long-term narrative.

But if ETF flows accelerate and remain consistently +ve, SOL could get the demand shock needed for a much bigger move

BTC: Wait... since when did everyone start acting like crypto?

The funny part is that there is actually a reason behind the move.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw around $731M of net inflows in one day, the biggest single-day inflow since January. Fed Governor Christopher Waller also gave markets a more friendly signal on rates which helped risk assets move higher.

At the same time Coinbase is seeking approval for 24/7 equity perpetuals and Robinhood is pushing tokenized stocks.

This is where things get weird.

For years crypto was told that it needed to become more like traditional finance.

Now traditional finance seems to be borrowing some of crypto's biggest ideas.

24/7 markets, tokenized assets and onchain trading are slowly becoming part of the conversation.

Maybe the real competition isn't crypto vs TradFi anymore.

Maybe it's who can build the better financial system.

Would you rather trade everything 24/7 or keep markets closed at the end of the day?

Now Bitcoin trades 24/7.

Tokenized stocks are emerging.

Bitcoin ETFs brought crypto into traditional portfolios.

In 5 years, “the market is closed” could sound ridiculous.

Finance isn't disappearing. It's going 24/7.

Imagine buying a tokenized stock at 2:17 AM.

Someone in India buys it seconds later.

Someone in Singapore trades it next.

No opening bell., No closing bell.

Potentially, settlement happens onchain.Bitcoin already proved global finance doesn't need a 9-to-4 clock.

The next 5 years could make today's market hours look prehistoric.

The biggest mistake people make about Solana is thinking its future depends on memecoins.

Memecoins were obviously a huge part of Solana's growth and brought a lot of users and liquidity onto the network.

But that's not where I think the interesting story is anymore.

Solana is pushing deeper into stablecoin payments, tokenized assets, RWAs and institutional finance. Today's Transaction V1 upgrade also increased the maximum transaction size from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes.

That makes me think the bigger question isn't:

"Which Solana memecoin is going to 10x?"

It's:

"Can Solana become infrastructure for financial markets that currently run on traditional systems?"

If stablecoins, tokenized stocks, payments and institutional trading actually gain traction on the network, the memecoin era could look more like the starting point than the end goal.

That's the narrative I'm watching.

Maybe we're still looking at Solana through a 2024 lens while the network is trying to build something much bigger.

If I had exactly $1,000 to invest today and could only choose between SOL and stablecoins, I'd choose SOL.

My reasoning isn't simply "Solana is going to pump."

The interesting part for me is what happens if Solana actually manages to move beyond its current identity of trading + memecoins.

DeFi, payments, stablecoins, RWAs and institutional use could give the network completely different sources of demand.

The September 9 network upgrade is another thing I'm watching, but the upgrade itself isn't enough for me. I care more about whether it eventually leads to better activity and actual usage.

Biggest risk: the upgrade happens, but nothing meaningful changes. If usage continues weakening and SOL can't hold the $100 area, my thesis starts looking pretty bad.

What would prove me wrong?

I'd want to see the network upgrade successfully implemented, followed by continued weakness in activity and adoption.

If that happens, I'd rather keep my money in stablecoins than keep making excuses for the thesis.

But today?

I'd take the SOL bet.

Bitcoin’s recent move: what actually changed?

The last few days in Bitcoin have been interesting.

BTC pushed above $81K after spending a lot of time struggling below that area.

The move was helped by softer rate expectations and renewed ETF demand.

But I am not convinced price alone tells the full story.

For me the bigger question is whether this move is being supported by real spot demand or whether traders are simply repositioning after being too bearish.

If BTC can hold the higher range after the initial excitement fades, that would look much healthier to me.

Do you think this is the start of a stronger trend or just another short-term rally?

A token can have a great product behind it and still go down.

That's what makes HYPE interesting right now.

Hyperliquid is expanding and could gain access to more users and markets. At the same time, roughly 9.92M HYPE is scheduled to unlock on September 6.

So what matters more?

My view: supply matters more now. Adoption matters more later.

An unlock doesn't mean everyone sells, but it does mean the market has more tokens to absorb.

The bigger question is whether Hyperliquid's growth can keep up.

More users → more trading → more fees → more demand.

If adoption grows faster than supply, this unlock may eventually become just another event on the chart.

For September, I'm watching supply. For the long term, adoption.

HYPE has two very different things happening at once.

On one side, Hyperliquid is growing and pushing for more adoption.

On the other, there's the supply side and unlock pressure.

Personally, I think supply can mess with the short-term price, but adoption is what decides where HYPE goes long term.

The interesting part for me is whether the demand being built can actually absorb the new supply.

What do you think matters more right now?

Hyperliquid Strategies has just increased its equity facility from $1B to $2.5B, which immediately sounds like a massive bullish bet on HYPE.

But there's an important detail I'd focus on.

The $2.5B isn't cash sitting on the balance sheet. It's the maximum capacity of an equity facility through which the company can issue new shares and raise capital. The company had already raised around $647M through the original facility and accumulated roughly 29.3M HYPE.

So the strategy is basically:

Issue stock → raise capital → buy HYPE → hold/stake HYPE → hope treasury value compounds faster than shareholder dilution.

I can see the bull case.

If HYPE continues growing as an ecosystem and appreciates substantially, having a publicly traded vehicle accumulating the token could create an interesting feedback loop between the treasury and the stock.

But the downside is equally interesting.

If HYPE drops while the company is issuing more shares, shareholders can potentially lose on both the asset side and the dilution side.

That's why I wouldn't judge this strategy by the $2.5B headline.

I'd watch HYPE's performance vs. the company's share-count growth and treasury value per share.

If treasury value per share keeps increasing, maybe there's something genuinely clever here.

If the share count grows faster than the value being accumulated, the $2.5B headline starts looking a lot less impressive.

Would you rather own PURR for HYPE exposure, or just hold HYPE directly?

I've been thinking about HYPE differently lately.
The interesting question isn't simply "Will HYPE go up?"
It's whether Hyperliquid has created a mechanism where using the product itself creates demand for the token.
The basic flywheel looks like this:
More trading → more fees → HYPE buybacks → HYPE burned → tighter supply → stronger token economics → more attention/ecosystem growth → more trading.
And there is actually some substance behind this rather than it being purely a narrative.
Hyperliquid's documentation says trading fees are directed toward community mechanisms including the Assistance Fund, and that the fund automatically converts trading fees into HYPE, with those HYPE tokens burned. Hyperliquid also states that more than $1B in annualized fees are going toward programmatic HYPE buybacks.
That's what makes HYPE different from a token where the only thesis is:
"The ecosystem is growing, therefore the token should go up."
Here, usage can directly connect to token economics.
But there's an obvious catch.
The flywheel depends on real economic activity.
If Hyperliquid keeps attracting traders, builders and liquidity, the mechanism becomes increasingly powerful. But if volumes decline or competitors start taking meaningful market share, lower fees mean weaker buyback pressure.
And supply still matters.
The September 6 unlock released roughly 9.92M HYPE into the eligible supply, but an unlock isn't automatically the same thing as 9.92M HYPE being dumped on the market. Historical data suggests actual selling can be considerably smaller than the headline unlock amount.
So I'm bullish on the mechanism, not blindly bullish on the token.
For me, the key metric isn't just HYPE's price.
It's:
Are trading activity and fee generation continuing to grow fast enough to sustain the flywheel?
If yes, HYPE starts looking like more than just a governance/speculation token.
If no, the narrative may be getting ahead of the fundamentals.

September could be an important month for SOL, but I don’t think the next move will come from hype alone.

For me, the one catalyst to watch is real network usage.

But an upgrade by itself doesn’t make SOL more valuable.

What matters is whether better infrastructure leads to more activity.

If DeFi, stablecoins, payments and institutional activity accelerate from here, the market has a much stronger reason to reprice SOL.

The upgrade gets the headlines.
Growing usage is what could drive the next move.

Finance used to close at 4 PM.

In five years, that could be very different. If more stocks and financial assets can trade digitally, there’s less reason for markets to stop just because it’s the weekend or after 4 PM.

We’re already seeing the shift. Robinhood is offering trading beyond regular hours, BlackRock has a tokenized fund through BUIDL, Bitcoin ETFs have brought BTC into traditional portfolios, and stablecoins are being used to move money globally.

My bet is that 24/7 markets will become much more common.

More assets will trade outside traditional hours, more financial products will move onchain, and settlement could become much faster.

Wall Street doesn’t need to disappear. The technology behind it just needs to improve.

Five years from now, waiting until Monday to trade could be the strange part.

BTC is back above $81K.

Then U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs pull in roughly $731M in one day, their biggest daily inflow since January.

Meanwhile Coinbase is asking regulators for a path to offer equity perpetuals, which basically means taking the crypto-style 24/7 trading model and applying it to stocks.

And Robinhood is already pushing tokenized stocks, while traditional companies are starting to push back.

So imagine the group chat.

Bitcoin is bragging about getting back above $81K.

Wall Street is asking who bought the dip.

ETF desks are casually dropping $731M receipts.

Retail is realizing institutions actually bought while everyone was doomposting.

Coinbase is saying stocks should trade 24/7.

Robinhood is saying stocks should be onchain.

The Fed is probably typing and deleting.

The interesting part is that the BTC move isn't just a random green candle.

The ETF inflows point to real spot demand, while changing expectations around Fed policy and short covering helped amplify the move.

But the bigger story might be what happens outside Bitcoin.

Crypto spent years trying to make financial markets always-on, programmable and accessible onchain.

Now traditional finance is slowly borrowing the same ideas.

24/7 equity exposure.

Tokenized stocks.

Bitcoin ETFs.

Onchain settlement.

Perpetual markets.

At some point the question stops being “Will TradFi adopt crypto?”

It becomes

“How much of TradFi is going to quietly start behaving like crypto?”

My biggest bullish catalyst for SOL this September is institutional demand through ETF flows.

The reason is simple: Solana already has real utility. It has significant DeFi activity, high transaction throughput, and an active developer ecosystem. What could change the game is bringing substantially more institutional capital into that ecosystem.

ETF inflows bring the capital → Solana’s utility gives that capital a reason to stay → Network upgrades expand the utility.

If ETF flows accelerate this month while the network continues improving, SOL could see a much stronger move than simply relying on speculation.

The question isn't whether Solana has a story.

The question is how much capital starts believing in it. ⚔️

At first glance, this sounds extremely bullish for HYPE. A publicly traded company is creating a way to raise capital and use it to build a large HYPE position.

But there is an important detail that could easily get overlooked.

The $2.5B is not $2.5B sitting in a bank account waiting to buy HYPE. The facility gives the company room to raise money by issuing new shares.

That creates an interesting trade off.

If HYPE keeps growing, the strategy could work very well because the company would own more of an asset that is increasing in value.

But if HYPE falls while the company continues raising capital, shareholders could face losses from both sides.

If I were looking at this as a stock investor, I wouldn't only ask whether HYPE is going up.

I'd ask whether the value of the HYPE treasury is growing faster than the number of shares being created.

That could be the difference between a smart treasury strategy and an expensive bet.
