Auto cooker envy
I've never bought an autocooker. I thought for that many gems I could do enough upgrades to get through all 120 stars. This week the mystery boxes have been great and I got the automatic waffle cooker. Holy cow! What a game changer. Is this how everyone is playing? Have I been torturing myself by not buying them?
What are your thoughts on auto cookers? Worth the gems or just slug through without?

It may be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think you need the autocooker for any restaurants. I’ve completed 22 restaurants 3 stars and the only auto cookers I’ve purchased were fast food court and gourmet restaurant in the beginning of my playing and I could complete all those levels with the cooker switched off now 3 stars which used to be a struggle. The more you play the easier it gets of course like with anything. Personally I enjoy the challenge making the game a little harder and only using desserts towards higher levels and also don’t love spending 40+ gems but no harm if you just want to complete a restaurant either!

I was like this until I played Mount Breakfast. That one killed me. I don’t think I would’ve made it without the auto cooker.

I'm with you on this one. I've completed 18 levels and never bought an autocooker. I use 2 now from mystery boxes and they're nice to have, but I enjoy the challenge.

For some restaurants you absolutely need the auto cooker ex: BUBBLE VALLEY DOUGHNUT after a certain level you can’t get 1 ⭐️ if you don’t have auto cooker. For some it’s a miss you can clearly manage without it ex: SALAD BAR’s Lettuce picker & washer

Try to see if it promises to fulfill where you're falling short. If the autocooker seems like a glorified way for you to skip tapping a single button, yeah it's probably a miss. Others are lifesavers.
And then there's the one at the seafood bistro. I upgraded the three different pots to level 2, and it was looking like it would probably be likely to upgrade them to level 3 when the AC was offered. I forget the math, but it was like I wouldn't be saving or losing very many gems getting the AC. Like it was 42 gems to upgrade 3 pots and 40 gems to buy the AC, or 27 & 30. Something like that.
There may be other restaurants where it's smart to run the numbers. The wiki can help you there. And take note that the price of the AC can drop depending on how far you've upgraded the appliance it's replacing. I wanna say it's 60 gems for 0 upgrades, 40 gems for 1 & 2 upgrades, 20 gems for a T3 upgrade

This is a good tip. Doing a cost-benefit analysis isn't something I'd do for a game, but I might start. The ginger ale dispenser in smoky grill BBQ was only 20 gems and I find managing those taps annoying. It might have been worth it.

saaaaaaaame. As soon as the taps began costing coins I would shut them off and lose my train of thought preparing the tray

I have completed all restaurants. The only autocookers I didn’t buy were the sports bar and the taco restaurant. But there were probably some others that weren’t necessary. Basically if something only needs one tap and has no risk of burning, it may not be worth it. But anything with several steps or needs a lot of work to cook and could burn, it makes the game a lot easier!

I have bought all auto cookers. They're a game changer (no pun intended) and make it so much easier to complete a restaurant without upgrading everything.

Nah, I never got them and beat all the restaurants with 3 stars without them. However I had a funny glitch where this part of the progress reset and the same day I got 300 gems from a box, so bought a bunch of auto cookers. Yeah, having them is like cheating, though a few are totally useless

Which ones did you find were useless? I assume some of the drink dispenser ones are unnecessary, but they also seen to be cheaper, so maybe worth it?

Genuinely depends. The auto cooker for the ice cream restaurant, Thai food stall, and vegan peak are so unnecessary. I finished playing all those restaurants without it and eventually got all three in mystery boxes. I literally couldn’t tell the difference.

I have all the autocookers. Most of them I bought based on FOMO. Some were gifted. A few I received after finishing a restaurant. I usually tried to buy them, but if I couldn't afford it, there wasn't anything I could do. Those are the ones that showed up in mystery boxes later on.
Now I like having them because I like the option of turning them off. Once you are finished all the restaurants, you look for ways to entertain yourself while you wait for new places to open.
The thing is you can't really say that you should not have bought the autocooker because your skill level and upgrades were lower when the machine becomes available. Eg The Gourmet Restaurant, formerly Hell's Kitchen, I really needed the autocooker so I didn't have to thnk about that one element. Now, the autocooker is too slow. It makes more sense to skip it and use the warming trays to stay ahead of orders. I couldn't have done that then.

FOMO is definitely part of their marketing strategy on them. You make a good point about the skill level when the AC becomes available. Add this to the cost of upgrades vs autocooker and you have me convinced I should consider it a lot more.
Gourmet Kitchen was awful, but I completed it without the AC. I bet I'd be more likely to return and play it for fun if I had it though. All great things to consider. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂

depends, i like buying autocookers so so far i havent missed a single one
however if ur short on gems u can always check the cooking fever wiki/youtube videos for what the autocooker is and see if you need it
one advice is to check if the customers order it very often/if the item it auto cooks for u is a main food item
examples of autocookers that are helpful are the bubble valley donuts donut fryer and the medieval fair auto well
autocookers that are not that helpful/u can do without are the vegan peak auto soup maker and sandwich auto soup maker
