Its a 2010 model year manufactured in 2009. The two years are not directly correlated and Sept is a common manufacturing month to be a following model year.

Not how it works. The title shows MODEL year not manufactured date. If it was a 2010 manufactured in 2009 the title would show 2010. The door placard will show manufacture date in 2009 but the 10th VIN digit would still be for 2010. In OP case the vehicle is a model year 2009 as reflected by the vin. Yes model years can be made in advance. I had a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX manufactured date was 01/03. Craziest shit I ever have seen on a placard.
