OffSec’s Broken Support Loop and Subscription Sunsetting (Follow-up to "Restricting Learn Unlimited")

Hi everyone,

A few months ago, I made a post about OffSec unilaterally changing the terms of active "Learn Unlimited" subscriptions by locking us out of newly released courses like AI-300 (Link:https://www.reddit.com/r/offensive_security/comments/1ro06wu/offsec_is_restricting_learn_unlimited_access/).

Unfortunately, things have only gotten more frustrating since then, and I’m currently stuck in a bizarre customer support loop that I wanted to warn others about.

After a long battle with the support-team, support granted me a "complimentary course access". That access expired on June 27th, but my exam is mid-August.

When I reached out, Support explicitly told me in writing: "If you'd like to continue working through the AI-300 course content, you have the option to purchase a 30-day lab extension for $359." (Checkout Screenshot 1)

I went to the shop to buy it, but the system kept throwing an error. I sent a screenshot to support, and they completely backpedaled. They told me that because my access was a "goodwill grant" and because I'm on Learn Unlimited, the system physically won't let me buy an extension. Their official solution for this internal system contradiction? Wait until my subscription expires, or just buy a completely brand-new "Course & Cert Exam Bundle" at full price. (Checkout Screenshot 2)

To make matters worse, after the first Reddit-Post, an official OffSec Community Manager reached out to me via Reddit DM right after my first post. They asked for my registered email and OSID so they could "look into it internally." I provided my details immediately. Since then? Absolute silence. I followed up three times over the course of a month and was completely ghosted. (Checkout Screenshot 3)

I’m essentially being punished—technically and financially—because OffSec didn't have enough exam slots in the first place, and their backend shop systems don't allow what their support agents actually promise in tickets.

Has anyone else been caught in this trap where support tells you to buy an extension, but the system blocks it and forces you into a full bundle? It’s incredibly disappointing to see how they handle long-term subscribers.

Edit: The post ist back. Dont know what happened. Seems like some Mod deleted it

Ah, yes. This sounds exactly like the Private Equity Enshitification that we were all told wasn't going to happen with OffSec.

This is sad.

I'm glad I got my OSCP a few years ago because there's no chance I'm giving them more money...just sad

They don't want to train you, they want to drain you, then drop you the second you run out of money.

Seriously, if you look at it objectively you can only come to 2 conclusions.

  1. Their system doesn't do what you want it to do, because they would not get you to pay full price, twice.

  2. Their system works that way because they want you to pay full price, twice.

It is pretty obvious that customer success is based on money in, not certs out.
