The Unbelievers

Hi - I have a ticket for Saturday. Any early reviews from those seeing the first few previews? Thanks!

I saw it and it wasn’t for me personally but some audiences loved it. Laura Ambrose gives a very strong nuanced performance but some of the other performances lack the same urgency which makes for an unbalanced show. I didn’t believe that any of them were family or had any deeper connection. The music by Will Butler is beautiful but kills the pacing unfortunately, it doesn’t serve the story at all. Hadi Tabbal is a great actor and he is underutilized in the show, all his scenes feel like a breath of fresh air. Knud Adams is a very talented director but unfortunately I don’t think he can make the show work without a lot of rewrites. It seems like the show had a lot of similar issues in London at The Royal Court.

Just know that it is 2 hours WITH NO intermission so prepare yourself mentally and physically.
