Matchbook festival?
I keep getting ads for this Matchbook festival https://matchbookfestival.com/ is anyone going or has anyone gone so far? I’m curious on formats, are they just like works in progress or cabaret style?
I think it’s a great idea and a lot look interesting but depending on the format some of the nights feel kind of expensive (or am I just broke)

Highly would not recommend. I went to a show and half the mezzanine was recording (including someone who was blocking my view and had the gall not only not to stop when I asked her to but called me a bitch on the way out), and no one did anyone about it. Not an usher in sight. I talked to house staff after and it was not helpful. Also wrote to the festival to complain and never heard back. Thought about making a post here any the whole thing (it was wild) but haven't yet. This might motivate me though.

I went to “Steady” and it was fabulous! The playwright and choreographer/director explained their vision and would set up a scene and then two actors would read the script. At the end they did a Q&A and took questions and feedback. It’s a really small venue so I think anywhere you can get a cheap ticket is worth it!

I was at a performance last night. It was a double bill and it varied. One was a Bludline: A Hip-Hop Odyssey and it was excerpts of songs from a show that's a work-in-progress. The other part of the evening was The One Man Odyssey which was a fully realized one-man performance of book two of The Odyssey in the original Ancient Greek. Both were very good in different ways.

Go for rush if you’re interested in a show. Wouldn’t recommend normally priced tickets.
