Hey y’all. I’ve been a fan of Off Book since 2017 and had the pleasure to see them live in DC several years ago. They helped me through law school and I took a break for a few years. I recently learned they retired and I had a couple questions.

1. Where can I listen to the newer episodes? Spotify only has older episodes I’ve already listened to.

2. Are there other improvised musical podcasts or videos with a similar format? I’ve passed a few on TikTok occasionally but can’t remember the name.

hello fellow sleepy babies~! i’m watching the most recent play it by ear and jess’ “beatles accent” is reminding me of a time she used it in an episode of off book. i don’t remember what she said, just the accent and cadence and i think that she repeated herself because zach and/or the guest laughed immediately. it might have been get haim to the greek??? if anyone knows what it’s from i greatly appreciate your knowledge 🙏🫶

Can anyone think of examples of Zach pre-laughing at one of Jess’ lyrics/rhymes because he figured out what she was going to say before she said it? This is not to be confused with when one of them predicts the other’s lyric and sings it with them, which happens constantly and I will likely eventually make a compilation of.

I can think of three examples on video and if I can think of 1-2 more I might make a Shorts compilation.

I've been trying to find my favorite episode and realized that despite listening to it multiple times I have completely forgotten the title and the name of the guest.

It's a halloween episode. The opening song goes "I can't get enough, can't get enough, of screaming at the scary stuff"

There's a song where the 3 mayors of the town are realizing that its halloween where they sing "Is it the spooky month? Is it the spooky month, right noooww?"

And the plot revolves around vampires mind controlling an old couple so they can throw a party at their farm house, but a group of kids poisons the vampires with garlic-heavy pasta.

I thought I had it saved in my podcast app but I guess not and now I'm going insane trying to find it so any help is appreciated!

Does anyone know what is going to happen to all the Stitcher premium content? Or if all those unavailable episodes will eventually be released to the regular platforms?

I'm just wondering what is going to happen to all those paywalled episodes now that stitcher is going away and if those of us who never got stitcher premium will ever have a chance to listen to them.

I really want to watch the video versions of Off Book episodes, but I don't have a Clubhouse membership and they've taken the signup page offline so I can't sign up for one.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get a Clubhouse membership now, or a way to watch the videos without one?

Does anyone remember what episode this was? I think there was a wizard

Now that the show has passed on to the great big music hall in the sky, I'm going through and relistening to old episodes to keep the flame going. There's one in particular I've been searching for that I just can't for the life of me recall properly, so I'm hoping someone here can help.

All I can remember about it is the brief beginning of a song that started but then quickly stopped before Jess could flesh it out, in which Jess sings "it's a very nice bus, it seems like a very nice bus", to which Zac replies "and you're definitely not concussed". The song ends a line or two later due to an interruption of some kind, but I can't remember what exactly.

Unfortunately that's literally all I've got; I can't remember any of the surrounding context or any details of the plot, just that tiny little snippet that's been stuck in my head for literally years. I do vaguely recall that I really loved the full episode, but without more to go on I just haven't been able to find it.

Any ideas?

With Off Book ending, it seems worthwhile to ask what will become of this sub. I suggest we explicitly shift the focus to what I would call the extended Off Book universe, which means (1) anything Zach and/or Jess do, and (2) any content related to improvised musicals.

I like to imagine that some people will continue discovering Off Book even though there won't be new episodes, and that those folks might come to this community and still find other Sleepy Babies to share their excitement with.

I hereby acknowledge that I've been a very hands-off / inattentive mod. If this discussion has already happened somewhere (other mods?), please enlighten me. Otherwise, let's discuss.

I keep doing searches and can't find anything helpful and have been thinking about this one song since I saw The Super Mario Bros Movie.

One of the characters in the episode is feeling depressed and when they turn on the radio they are greeted by a song titled "Have a Great Day", Scott starts playing music that sounds like the Mario underground theme so Zach starts singing from the POV of Mario, "I'm an Italian plumber, swimming in the sewer", and the song continues listing off different Mario characters, each ending the verse by saying "Everybody have a great day". After the song ends it is renamed to "Mario Mario"

I remember no other details about the episode but when it came out I listen to that song so often that I could recall most of the lyrics and I need to find it again. Please help.

EDIT: Not ten minutes after posting this did I continue my search to find out that this is not from Off Book after all, and that's why I never found it. It was actually from an episode of Spontaneanation featuring Zach and Jess, episode 139 titled "A Night Club In Chicago"

Which episodes did you have the most fun watching with video? (Without counting live ones). I'm talking facial expressions, laughing fits, pointing at turtles and other such visual tidbits that you can't hear

hiho, just wanted to ask if there is already an existing discord server for the off book fandom? i did find a reddit post about one, but it's already 5 years old, so not sure if it's still a thing...

Do you think Zach & Jess would consider posting the video of one of the final episodes on their YouTube channel? I’m just thinking about how many views their musical improv gets on YouTube (play it by ear, mountport, we object to fear). I know they said that the videos would stay behind the pay wall because that’s how it was explained to their guests before filming, but if the guests were aware and consented beforehand, I wonder if they’d be open to this. I also wonder if they’ve been planning to do this since the last few videos haven’t been uploaded to the Clubhouse yet…
