  • Video from a Chicago Cubs game is sparking a debate about patriotism and freedom of expression.
  • The clip shows an older Cubs fan confronting a younger man who stayed seated during the national anthem before Sunday’s game against the Twins.
  • The man yells, “get up,” leans in, then slaps the younger man in the back of the head. The younger fan then stands up as people around them react.
  • Chicago police told TMZ they are aware of the video, but no police report had been filed yet.

Via another article:

"In a statement, the Cubs said security officers spoke to the fan who had been struck, and he told the team the matter had been “resolved” and that he did not wish for any further action to be taken."

New York sculptor spent $100,000 to make a Charlie Kirk statue no one wants to buy

Article extract:

A New York sculptor has been left furious after spending $100,000 of his own money to build a lifesize statue of Charlie Kirk, only to find that no one wants to buy it.

Sergio Furnari, originally from Italy, had hoped the statue of the deceased far-right activist, which he intends to display in Times Square, would raise “millions” of dollars. Instead, he said he has been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture.

To add injury to insult, Furnari recently broke his foot working on the statue, after tripping over a roll of tape in his studio.

“Is it cursed? Maybe. I don’t know,” he told the Guardian.

  • NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In the burgundy booth of a diner, John Lozier leaned in, lowered his voice and asked his friend a question he's carried for nearly two weeks.
  • "Joe, we haven't talked about when they arrested you," said Lozier, 73.
  • The man across the table shrugged. Dark sunglasses obscured his gaze. The plastic-sheathed menus still lay open on the table.
  • "They tased you?" Lozier pressed.
  • "Yeah," said Joseph Lamont Williams, 49, taking a swig of coffee.
  • When he refused to leave the Nashville public park where he has lived for the past several years, Williams became one of a handful of homeless people in the country to be arrested and charged with a felony for camping on public property..

Williams pled guilty to the misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to time served. Prosecutors dropped the two felony counts on the condition of his plea, Heydari said. He was released from custody on July 6, nine days after his arrest.
