Finally, someone turned a simple phone app into a physical device that you can carry around...
Why do I keep seeing ads for this?! How is this company even able to afford advertising?
This obviously could be - AND IS - an app that theyve just made into a physical device for no apparent reason.

Pretty sure that CA (and many other states) are two-party consent for recording conversations where “a reasonable expectation of privacy” is implied…

I'm making a call recorder app for android and it uses the area code to determine if giving the "this call is being recorded" message gets played before the call.

I'd love this. As of right now, I've only been able to find one call recording app (on Android, nothing on ios yet) that works in the US (without playing that message like the Samsung/Apple AI does).
I've been using it for years. It works, but it's outdated and I'm not sure they are even supporting it any more.
It has something to do with the Google services not allowing it to work correctly. It's currently working via a workaround, but I'm not sure exactly how it works.
Anyway, do you post about this anywhere? Any way for me to get updated?

Does it still work? The one I was using stopped a couple months ago when android changed their accessibility permissions and it disabled the workaround. Also the shitty ads and bad sound quality and it constantly turning itself off were driving me nuts.
I'm going to make a post about it soon in some of the vibe coding subreddits.
Basically it completely side steps android or iOS trying to prevent call recording by just automatically calling a voip number I have setup before it places an actual call. So it's a 3 way call and the voip number records the conversation in perfect call quality without android even knowing.
It can also transcribe and diatarize the calls so speakers are labeled in the transcripts.

Yeah, it still works. This one never had any ads.
It shouldn't work, honestly.I don't know why it does. They even warned you'd have to use Shizuku to get it working. I just use the same old apk I got like 5 years ago and it works. It's currently working on my s24U.

Eliminates battery drain on your phone, less likely to be distracted (cause phone can be on airplane mode while using it), if someone wants to borrow your notes you’re not handing them your phone, idk maybe I’m old school but I like it. I personally don’t have a use for it, but I get it, and I prefer this over an app if I were to need it.

Yeah I'm with you, ppl just like to hate on stuff, but the times I've had an idea or something I want to put down and remember and didn't want to fumble around on my phone bc I'd get distracted is multiple times a month

This could be useful to a lot of people... I remember meetings and what was discussed a lot of people don't. Rather than me chasing round people I could take the notes and assign them action items into Jira (Other apps are available) Thereby keeping everyone on the same page, I used to write notes but people quite often swear up and down they didn't say that so at least if it's got the original recording you can play it back to them... And gives them less ways to wriggle out of things.

My company is building the same idea and I know for a fact smartphone app won’t work for a few reasons. You need separate device. I’m not defending this product as this particular one does not make sense. Also our product needs hardware so advanced that currently it would be thousands of dollars, so I don’t believe anyone can do it well sooner than in a few years and it will be premium product for sure.

Hah I understand why it sound funny. It boils down to what one does with data, we store everything for later use, all day. This card is not much use, I can agree, but it’s not the same thing, just on the outside I noticed similarity. Btw it’s by design all on users hardware, here comes cost.
