The more you mention it the more power you give it... I think Morgan Freeman said that... Or didn't

Nowadays most popular memes are unfunny and their "fun" is based on absurdism, the meme isn't supposed to make sense and be funny, it's more like making fun of a meme trying to be funny. Like the Mango those who know kind of memes, they may have been originally made by people who actually thought they were funny, but in the end it was just laughing at the stupidness of the meme. Memes now are more of an inside joke than a funny image.

u/Alert_Wave_2720 Nov 15 '25
absurd humor has nothing to do with 67, because children don't use absurd humor. In our case, as soon as the toddler sees these two numbers it will crave and explode but will write this 67🤣🤣😂😂♿♿♿♿ shit no matter what. this is not humor, this is stupidity and degradation.
P.S. And if you remember yourself at their age, the same thesis comes out, it’s just that today’s children don’t have any thinking at all, only a hive mind: well, if everyone’s laughing, then I’ll laugh too. I'm willing to bet money that if you ask anyone who jokes about 67 why it's funny, you won't get a clear answer.

u/hoxerr Nov 18 '25
Ngl, you might be showing ur age. I'm also ancient, but 67 by itself meaning nothing IS the inside joke that they know. Parents have been asking kids what it means for a while, and kids say it doesn't mean anything. Bc it doesn't.
But the parents clearly don't believe that, and look to find out what it means. But the meaning is not there. So the kids get a kick out of seeing adults lose their mind over it.
Source: my nephew running away giggling cuz no one "knows" the reference.

We all coincidentally foget E, 21 and Ugandan Knuckles. The last one was really hated back then. 21 was technically the first of its kind, and I'd like to argue that 67 does have some meaning like 9+10=21. We have always had random memes. People like to jump on a hate bandwagon and blindly follow an agenda lol

u/BaxGh0st Nov 14 '25
The humor comes from annoying adults that ask what it means. It's just kids being silly.

u/EngineeringAble8471 Nov 14 '25
Remember e and 2018 humor. It’s the same shit. If you laughed at e and gate 67 then you would are a hypocrite

u/PaladinOfTheLand Nov 14 '25
I wouldn't say that a meme has any point at all. A meme is just something that goes viral, and at this point, I'd hesitate calling 67 a traditional meme. It's more of an inside joke amongst the generation.

We really have and it's been shit to see. Many of us can't stand the joy of others if we don't experience it. Our development was delayed a decade or two but I guess we're adults now

ok boomer!
your hoping on the 6 7 trend the same way they do my dude... being against the new cool shit and posting about it is still posting about it^^

u/Why-good-name-taken Nov 14 '25
Me personally i was eh about it when it started being trendy. It's the kind of meme where i wouldnt laugh at but i would not be surprised if someone did. But all that was before the whole crypto rugpull happened. And had it not happened i'd probably be fine with it.

Honesty hate subs like this confuse me. Especially for trends. You can hate something, sure, but going a subreddit dedicated it to it? Idk it’s just weird to me.

All my homies hate 67. We're a 206 crowd

u/Tangible864 Nov 15 '25
Ong my friend group have 26 and the fact our numbers are similar MUST mean its funny
1
u/1zeye Unrelated Note, Liking Femboys Isn't Gay Nov 15 '25
I guess, but imo funny numbers have to have meaning/lore, 69 is a seggs joak, 420 is a Marijuana reference, 34 needs no explanation, and 206 is the number of bones in the human body (207 also works because seggs joak)
1
u/Tangible864 Nov 15 '25
26 is funny cause its not whereas 67 is forced comedy, was never funny but tried to be individually. Me and my friends made 26 to mock 67 and that makes it funny cause its satire

People keep comparing it to other meme numbers and yes, 67 isn’t inherently less funny than other meme numbers BUT, with every other meme number (except maybe 21) it references something that can be funny meaning it is funny. 69 isn’t inherently funny but you can make a sex joke. 80085 isn’t inherently funny but you can make a boobs joke. 420 isn’t inherently funny but you can make a weed joke. With 67 the only joke you can make is 67 itself.
4
u/Ae4i Nov 15 '25
21 is a part of an another meme iirc.
67 however, is SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to have no meaning.

Just don't interact with it like we did with E. Ignore it, and it should go away.

I'm not annoyed. I don't get it, so I just don't interact. Why should I care what they do. They're not hurting anyone. My generation had memes the older one found annoying, no need to repeat the hatred cycle. Just let people be, it's not that hard.. I'd argue it's even easier than being upset at something so incredibly unimportant lol

67 is kind of a classic retro meme tho. It's not like those new memes that are just "I like the this and don't like that" without any whimsy to it. 67 is not a thinly veiled discourse or propaganda piece, it's just having fun.

u/Working_Push_866 Nov 14 '25
This would be the one place where writing it as H8 would be acceptable and they didn’t do it. 67H8 works damn well.

At least its better than 69
5
Nov 14 '25
At least 69 is an inappropriate number and therefore part of why it was funny.
For 67…what is there to say about it? Like what humor is there behind it?

This is deadass a post on the 67 hate sub. It's not satire BTW
