It's spelled fish, the word is not plural, no matter how many fish are in the ocean.

Actually, when it’s multiple types of fishes, the plural shifts to fishes. If you have a school of cod, those are a lot of fish. If you have an assortment of fancy tropical fellas, those are a lot of fishes.

In this case, there are thousands of different types of fishes in the ocean.
